Default A Plea for all Villagers with Koi Ponds, water gardens

Mourning the loss of Jeremiah and his buddy. For 4-5 years I have had the pleasure of having 2 bull frogs in my pond. I grew up on the Allegheny River in NW Pa and used to sit outdoors at night and listen to the water, the distant train whistles and the Bullfrogs. When we built our home in The Villages, we were on the lanai late one evening and all of a sudden we heard the distant sound of the train whistle... we both got a little teary-eyed, it's called nostalgia. Next came the pond with the waterfall and I kept wondering how I could get a bullfrog to complete my dreams of yesteryear. Then I discovered a frog in the pond (toad, whichever), but eventually he became big enough to "croak" and my trip down memory lane was complete. I have had this pleasure every night for over 6 years. I don't know what happened, but for the past week Jeremiah (and buddy) are nowhere to be found and I am desperate to find a couple grown replacements. The man from Touch of Paradise was cleaning the pond a week ago and was much surprised that I loved the little guys. He told me most Villagers hate the noise from the bullfrogs that they have in their ponds. I am begging anyone who has bullfrogs and wants rid of them to respond and see if we could manage to replace my babies. I know..... I'm nuts...... indulge me !!!LOL

We have a pond in front of our house. We have a lot of tadpoles. Would be happy to give you some and you can watch them grow. Message me if you want some tadpoles.

was the frogs contained in enclosure? if they was not inside the fenced Lanai the Frogs got jumpy during the rains storms, hopped off for better waters, and some frog humping with response they got from the croaking.

"Froggy went a courtin'. . .uh, huh,"

Actually, that could be -- 'tis the season.

After I read the OP's post, I just had to look up more info about bullfrogs.....

Bullfrogs are voracious eaters and predators. They are extremely territorial. Females are attracted to territories that have the most food available.......

I also read that bullfrogs eat so much that they will indulge even in cannibalism...............uh......Did you say Jeremiah had a buddy?......(gulp)

Well, I hope they both return. Please keep us posted.

Well, of course not, Chi.....

How could I possibly be old enough to remember a living room corner with a black and white Capehart with a screen the size of a goldfish bowl?

How could I possibly be old enough to remember who Buster Brown was before it was the name for a kids' clothing label?

How could I possibly be old enough to remember Andy Devine as a cowboy sidekick for Roy Rogers?

And certainly I could not be old enough ever to have been photographed wearing a Hopalong Cassidy cowgirl outfit, complete with cap gun and holster.

Geez, Chi, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I also love the sounds of frogs of all sorts. We lived in California and had the train tracks nearby. On quiet mornings or evenings, we can hear the train whistle blowing here. Faint but we can hear it and it does bring back good memories. There's a large pond in our backyard so we hear all kinds of noises.... love it!
