Default Thinking of moving there and need a doctor

My wife and I are considering the villages and I am diabetes. So along with a family doctor I need an endocrinologist. Any opinions, suggests, or recommendations? THX

IMHO, you will get several recommendations, but you will need to determine what insurance you have (or will have) when you get here. So a search on the site for LOTS of info on Medicare Supplemental (not used by the villages health system) and Advantage Plans (used by Villages Health system. You can contact SHINE (info on this site) for more info in the health care system in Florida, not the same as we had back up north. Do your homework, so you are prepared when you come down.

VT is correct (always). However I want to clarify a technical point for the OP. The Villages Health System is a physician group with numerous offices throughout The Villages. If you are over 65, and on Medicare, they will only accept a Medicare Advantage plan. If you are under 65, and have private insurance, check with the physician group because they do accept some plans.

The Villages Regional Hospital is not associated with the physician group. And the hospital accepts most insurances.

I highly recommend Dr. Hamilton Fish. He is in nearby Leesburg. He was at Walter Reed in his previous life. Excellent physician.

I would do as VT says. Social media sites are beneficial BUT you'll get way too many opinions and suggestions. I would go for "unbiased" for such an important decision! Also what Dbussone said is true as well.
