Default Warnng Sun trust phishing scam

This morning I received an email saying my suntrust account :

" We're sorry - we suspended your access to Suntrust because of recent activity on your account."

It went on to say click here, which I did and was taken to a site That looked legitimate - but was not!

Beware ! of this and other similar scams. Hover your mouse over the sender name to see who it is really coming from and if it doesn't look right don't click, call the company instead and check it out.

I keep getting e-mails telling me my Amazon.com package was shipped and I rarely order anything from them and when I do just check the account to track it myself. I get one of these every other day it seems.

In my case, it's an Amazon.com email stating my order has been effectively cancelled, although I hadn't bought from them. I alerted Amazon, but the scam persists.

Well, at least this game is keeping me mentally sharp.

I do not open any of these. Just delete all of them.

I was getting 15 phishing emails a day for about two months and they have almost stopped. First, you should be able to tell just by the subject line that it is bogus. If you have't ordered from Amazon, then why click on it. I didn't want to change my email address, it's a good one and I've had it 6 years.

Here's examples of the last two phishing emails I got "Qualify to Carry a Gun Legally" and the other "Formula Focus Will Make America Great Again". Neither of these would be of interest to me or pertain to anything I have come across. Here's how I got them to stop.

1) Don't click on the email
2) Put a check mark in the box on the left of all suspected emails
3) Go to the top of the page and click on Spam
4) Let them go to the Spam folder where they will stay for 10 days and then drop out

Actually last Monday I did have Suntrust suspend account and they never emailed me or called me to let me know. My account would not open, I could only go to the logon page. I called Suntrust and asked about their website and they said it was working fine.

I worked for two days to try to fix the problem. I tried a different browser, I tried Incognito, I tried lost password, I ran Windows diagnostic, and a few other fixes all to no avail. I called Century Link my ISP and the tech there said, guess what, I have Suntrust and I can't get into my account either.

I went back to the Suntrust website and started an instant message with the online support. Finally after a few minutes they came back and said my account had been suspended due to online activities. I let them know I had wasted two days trying to fix a problem that didn't exist and why couldn't they call or send me an email to let me know. She said, they don't send emails for that problem, so now you know, if you get a Suntrust email that your account is suspended, it is bogus.

I got two emails from PayPal this morning saying my account was suspended. I don't have a PayPal account.

That could also mean someone unsuccessfully tried setting up a PayPal account using your name and email and PayPal caught it. You can be 99.9999% sure that at least your basic info is floating around out there somewhere being sold to scammers. Take it from someone who is recovering from having his identity stolen,

When the IRS computer system was hacked a couple of years ago, I was one of those whose info was stolen. It has created some real issues for me. I can certainly empathize with you.
