Has anyone visited Rainbow Springs State Park? How was the tubing? Any information would be appreciated.

we did the tubing a few years ago... the tubing is actually down the road on Rainbow River...the current was slow moving and it took awhile to finish... Not to scare you but "sometimes" an occasional alligator crosses the river....this happened to us, he crossed about 20 yds in front of us....everyone I had talked to said they had NEVER seen one there before...lol... just our luck... my gr.daughter was a little freaked out but we just sat quietly in the tubes while it crossed on front of us

We are going on Tuesday, love Rainbow Springs. We know they are there but just be cautious. Any fresh body of water can have them.

Believe you can rent canoes, kayaks and tubes at the springs.

We kayaked at Rainbow Springs in May. The river moved slowly - quite relaxing. We did have a headwind at one point and had to work a bit harder but it was not too strenuous.

Smile Go There

We have gone there a lot and there are gator's which you can hear making their noises as you Kayak. It is beautiful, clear spring water and good for a picnic BUT there are gators.

Rainbow Springs State Park is great for picnicing and swimming! They have great facilities with great views of the Blue Run river from the grounds. Swimming area is roped off and I do not think they have life guards. If you have grandkids on the smaller side, make sure to have floats, floatie cuffs or life vests for them. Also, the water maintains at 72 degrees, so it can be a bit shocking until your body adjusts! If you're interested in tubing or canoeing travel down from the State Park to an area called K-Pole Hole. There, you can rent canoes or tubes! Or you can put in with your own. There also is an outfit in Dunnellon as you arrive in town on Hwy 484, I think it's still called Dragon Water Sports. The rent float devices and offer transport to the spot for you to enter the river and pick you up at the exit area. Depending on where you get in the river and on the current, the time frame for your trip can be up to 4 hours! Use to live in RS and made the trip many times! It's comfortable, especially of hot days, beautiful sights along the way and just plain fun! Enjoy!!

We went this week and rented an electric motor launch boat with glass bottom. Had a wonderful time, even saw otters on the bank and swimming in front of our bost.
