War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) - Rotten Tomatoes

This one is getting very good reviews. Can it beat Spider-Man: Homecoming this weekend in the box office battle? Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - Rotten Tomatoes

I'm just starting to watch the first two in the trilogy before I see this one.

Caught the first show this morning and it's the best of the three Apes movies. The story is good, the direction very good, the acting (and CGI characters or not, they ARE acting!) excellent and the CGI animation of the faces on the apes was flat-out astounding. The actors playing human roles were also excellent. If you liked the first two movies, this is an excellent end to the trilogy that I can highly recommend. If you didn't care for them (and I don't mean the previous Planet of the Apes series, I just mean this particular trilogy) or haven't seen them, I would recommend seeing the first two before seeing this one. It really is a three-movie story arc.

I know it is a long time, but I retire in 6 years. Do you guys have a movie group? Especially for Scifi, fantasy and horror type stuff.

They do have groups here who watch movies and then talk about these. One is a Foreign Movies club. The Villages Foreign Film Club

Then there is the Classic Movies Club. classic movie club

Could be others too in six years time.

There is also a science fiction club, though it may be oriented more towards books than film and TV.

I saw the new Planet of the Apes yesterday (Saturday 16th). I normally don't go to an opening weekend of a blockbuster, but I had an urge to go to see a movie, I had wanted to see Baby Driver. However it was at SS which had a cruise in going on and Scooter the DJ. I really can't stand him, I'm a person who actually likes to see a live band that is good. So we went to LSL which had Cactus Jack playing, who performs a great selection of psyche-rock era songs which I'm a big fan and this film was on my mind to see in a couple of weeks.

As I figured, the place was packed but we got there 45 minutes before showtime and the line had about 20 people waiting. Last time I was in a line like this was for Capt. Phillips at LSL or Gone Girl at SS. The line went quick and I was able to get seats in our normal viewing area, but if you don't come at least 15 minutes before showtime, you'll be sitting up high or down in front for at least this first week. There was actually about a dozen people sitting in the very front section which I had never seen anyone other than 1 or 2 handicap people sit before.

The film was as good as I expected, I gave it a 9 out of 10. I noticed the title or any credits did not appear at the beginning. Sometimes they wait until after some action scene then the title, but it never came. The movie was basically 15 minutes of action at the beginning and about 25 minutes of action at the end and 90 minutes of maneuvering around in the middle is the best way to describe the flow. The acting was great, you almost wonder how they can make the film when so much of the scenes involve the monkees which I would guess is all computer generated. For a good time I would go see this film, especially in 3D. I've seen nine 3D movies in the last few years and this was the best as far as the technology.

Enjoyed the movie but it is a good idea as Polar Bear has done to watch the first two movies in this Trilogy as you will miss many of the references made in the last one if you do not.
