Default Tarpon Springs

If you want a great day trip I highly recommend Tarpon Springs. Today was our first visit and we will return. It is basically a quaint Greek fishing village whose history is sponges. Numerous (fantastic) Greek restaurants and shops. We also went on a two hour boat cruise. It was a thrill seeing a dolphin by our boat and we went shelling on a reef. Tarpon Springs is less than two hours from The Villages.

Default Check out Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs as well as the January Epiphany event.

This park should be re-opening its causeway this Fall after extensive renovation over the past year or so. I used to walk there once or twice a month when I lived in Palm Harbor which is just south of Tarpon Springs.

Another thing to watch out for is the cross diving an annual event in Tarpon Springs celebrating the Epiphany which brings in a lot of crowds. http://www.greeknewsonline.com/modul...ticle&sid=7916
