Default Harrisburg,pa to tv

We will heading south in 7 days.
Is anyone aware of major traffic delays for I81 to I77 to I26 to I95 or US 15 to I270 to the Beltway to I95?
Thank you.

I'll state the obvious..............route your journey on Google Maps...........they will show construction and accidents.

Do it now to get a feel, do it the day you are driving for up-to-date.

Zoom in and it will show the extent of the delay.

I find it very accurate.

An App that we found in the Google Play Store is called Waze. It seems to be a little more user friendly than the Google Maps App which is very helpful also. It gives you an option anyway and I like the way it helps to route you around a accident area.

Remember the good old days using a paper map? Get a Villages map when you get here. It will be helpful until you learn your way around. Have a safe trip.

Having a smart phone is so helpful. You are made aware of accidents and delays as they happen.

WAZE is an app that is updated by users so as you travel those on the app ahead of you will post what they see and experience. It is helpful if you do the same as you come upon a situation. The effectiveness is totally dependent on other users so don't be disappointed if you run into something......just means that there isn't someone ahead of you reporting. We used it on our recent 6K mile road trip and found it helpful.

I'm also driving south from Maine after Labor Day and planning to go the 81 route. I'm more concerned with availability of gas. Any thoughts?

We have done that route many times to go around the beltway. You can also take Rt 15 rather than I 81.

Two years ago we did the reverse route North, I-95 to Fredericksburg VA. We took 17 to I-81. 17 is a very scenic drive but not an easy route to follow without a GPS. We all agreed it was fine during daytime but not at night or near dusk. In fact we'd never do 17 again. BTW, AAA mapped the Va-17 route for us. I wonder if anyone there knew how circuitous it was.

We heard there were construction delays on I-77. If so it appears that you could stay on I-81 to 26 and avoid 77.

No matter how prepared,,,,be prepared for the unexpected,,,,accidents and weather do effect traffic.

We came the I81,177,126,195 way in early August . As I recall, there was some major construction on I77 north of Charlotte around Lake Norman. We came through on a Sunday afternoon and were not adversely affected. May be different on a weekday during the work commute times. Not so sure there is a good bypass route. I just checked I-77 road status and the info was that for the NC length there was a 58 Min delay from Va Line to the SC line . Did not say whether it was in North or South direction. Woulld imagine that to be north of Charlotte.

Drive safe.

We also take 17 south to I 95 to avoid the Beltway and Washington traffic. Done this route for several years and never stuck in traffic around the busiest areas.
travel safe
