Default Will there be a November Meeting?

When is the next Tri-County Tea Party meeting? We did not arrive in The Villages until Oct. 19, 2009, so we missed the Oct. meeting.

We were fortunate enough to have Joe Angione, Columnist from The Villages Daily Sun newspaper speak to our group (Tri-County Tea Party -FL). He explained why to us why nothing is ever written about our group or for our group (they have a Liberal basis). The because he is Conservative, he can only have a column in it once every 3 weeks.

Because of his Conservative belief, and others like him - they are starting a new group: Central Florida Conservative Alliance. Joe hopes that it will be up and running by March 1, 2010. Right now, they're looking for comments from people such as Tea Party members about the need for such an organization, and expressions of interest in being part of CFCA's board of governors.

Joe's email address is: JoeAngione@aol.com

Central Florida Conservative Alliance

Mission Statement:

The overall mission of the Alliance is to clearly define political conservatism and explain its virtues as they apply to a grassroots audience. In doing so it will recruit members with varied backgrounds and experience necessary to research and develop conservative-oriented position papers on issues of vital importance to Floridians and Americans everywhere. These issues will include government, politics, the economy, health care, immigration, foreign policy and national security.

The Alliance will be organized and function along the lines of a “think-tank” similar to the Hoover Institution and the Heritage Foundation. However, it will not be an organization controlled and managed by the intellectual elite. PhDs and other advanced degrees are not essential for membership. The Alliance believes that elitist intellectuals have done little to improve the nation, and so CFCA will build its membership around intelligent, everyday Americans who have the ability to conceptualize and clearly express themselves on a variety of issues.

Membership will be by invitation only to ensure that the Alliance is a well focused organization fully committed to the hard work of developing new ideas and fresh viewpoints on America and its future.

CFCA Objectives

Objectives:

1. Clearly define conservatism for a grassroots audience.

2. Show that CFCA is an organization to educate a grassroots audience about the virtues of conservatism.

3. Convince members, the media and the general public that a grassroots organization of ordinary, intelligent Americans with broad experience in all the important aspects of life can be just as effective as any “think tank” in investigating modern day trends, events, problems and opportunities and offering viable suggestions and solutions. (A statement of legitimacy.)

4. Explain that The Villages—as a unique microcosm of the best in American life—is an ideal birthplace for a conservative educational organization.

5. Promote conservative values and principles.

6. Explain why conservatism is a better approach to government than liberalism or socialism.

7. Present conservative positions on major issues such as government, politics, society, health care, the environment, the economy and international relations. Select six major topics each year for analysis and development of formal position papers.

8. Promote these position papers to the media.

9. Urge members to contact their legislators regarding conservative points of view.

10. Show members how to get involved politically to ensure that office holders know and do the will of their constituents.

11. Invite experts in various fields as well as local office holders and

political candidates to speak at CFCA meetings.

12. From time to time endorse conservative-minded candidates for political office.

Angry Obama threatens to close Offutt Air Force Base

From the Leader of the Tri-County Tea Party-FL about what was revealed on Glenn Beck 12/16/09.

Obama threatens Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. The Threat is to Close Offutt Air Force Base, Senate aide reports, December 15, 2009, Senate Health Care vote, Rahm Emanuel and White House extort Nelson’s vote. Treason is not acceptable, and we will not stand for it. At present, things are being worked on for a major retaliation to these threats from Obama by the American People. Not having them in place quite yet. However, I do strongly suggest you all mail, phone, e-mail or fax Senator Ben Nelson to NOT fall for this tactic ASAP. Now is the time to put pressure on Ben Nelson.
I also urge you all to write letters to the editor regarding this ASAP. Even though we have no meetings, we still must continue to push. They think that because it's the Christmas Season, we're lying low. However, we must still be vigilant and aware what Congress is doing or trying to do. If you know of any retired military person,I suggest you forward this on to them.
Thank you,
Pam

I mean no insult by this so please take this in the spirit in which it's intended.

BJ, your message, as posted, is why "Tea Party" members get derided as "**********" and not taken seriously.

For you, or whomever was the source of the words "Treason is not acceptable", to use that phrase instantly discredits you.

To equate the typical policitcal horse-trading that has gone on since the invention of politics with the one crime actually mentioned in the Constitution and still (to my knowledge) punishable by death shows a lack of perspective.

Being inflammatory but still correct in calling it "extortion" (as in 'you vote my way and I won't close the base in your district') still gets your point. But "treason"?

You do yourself no favors and, in the end, the result is to harm the message you're evidently trying to get out.

And "a major retaliation to these threats from Obama by the American People" almost sound like a colonel in Kandahar dealing with the Taliban.

If you treat "the opponent" (assuming it's Obama and the 'health care reform' legislation oozing it's way through Congress) like someone who won a clear majority of the vote of The American People, you might get taken more seriously.

Just as Republicans said to those who backed Kerry or Gore - the election is over so deal with it. If you sound like a fringe group you're going to get treated as one - even by those who (like me) are pre-disposed to be sympathetic to the overall message.

As with a lot of Glenn Beck's unresearched stories, the base closing was an untrue rumor that both Nelson's office and the White House have denied.

Default The reason for the Tea Party

One of the main reasons there is a Tea Party movement is to get people to start talking about the government/politics - not hide their head in the sand any longer. Since they are Non-partisan based, they are cautious about all elected officials, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, the new (which we do not support) Tea Party. We know there are lies, cover-ups, etc. on both sides of the aisle - we just want to get to the truth. As was talked about earlier in a blog there are stories that tell of another story, even those stories you need to take with a grain of salt, like everything else. What motives/party/kick-backs do they have/get by running that story. The general public will never know. To get to the bottom, as much as you can, read-listen-watch as much as you can on a subject/party/person. Don't accept one version of it as truth. I know of one woman in Ocala's Tea Party that has 2 computers and numerous TV's going at all time trying to get to the truth.
If you disagree with my posting then that means you are reading it, and involving your mind to think about it. That is the whole purpose of the Tea Party Movement - to educate, and make people aware.
Call me a Tea-******, whatever you want, it's still not going to change my thoughts. Only REAL FACTS will do that.

Default Get Used To It

The Tea Party may someday be the first third party to succeed in the USA.

The reason for that is the Tea Party is made up of ordinary Americans who are thinkers not coolade drinkers.

They'll have to have more than the Libertarians. The last 'new' 3rd party that had a chance was Perot's Reform Party and that fizzled after Pat Buchannan took over.
