Default What was the emergency alert?

When I turned on the TV this morning, an emergency alert was showing on multiple channels. My cousin said the alert was issued during the night and I should just reset my cable box.

Does anyone know what the alert was for? It was not a test.

Nothing on our TV (Comcast) on phones (Verizon), and nothing on the online news source.

I am going to take a guess. There was an explosion in a manhole near the cartpath on 466 about five yesterday evening. Immediately it triggered MANY emergency vehicles to our neighborhood. We were later told a transformer blew. We were without electricity for about an hour, and the traffic lights were out for awhile on 466 from Buena Vista to Rolling Acres. But that was last evening.

You live near there? Just a guess.

Good morning, Gracie dear. I had heard about that but I wouldn't think it would generate an alert on multiple channels on the TV. I live in Hadley which is at Morse and 466A, so quite a distance from BV and Rolling Acres. And my cousin, who lives in Buttonwood and sleeps no longer than ten minutes at a time, got the notice as well.

I'm going to watch the game and have dinner there, so I'll have to ask her for details.

If I had to guess, I would say it had something to do with both University of Florida and Florida State's 2017 football campaigns.
