Will the west coast version of NCIS succeed? Seems like it has a decent ensemble cast, but so far I can't tell if they are used enough or if everything centers on the two studs. Linda Hunt is a marvelous actress, but she seems to have one or two cutesy dial-in scenes per show -- no chops. Comments???

Last season when it became the spinnoff of NCIS there was another female actress that was Gibbs counterpart for this team but now she is not part of the show. Think it would have been much better with her in a lead role. I still watch it but think it could have been done better.

I enjoy NCIS but I could only watch the LA version for abot 20 minutes before I turned the channel. Don't know why, it just doesn't do it for me.

You are right. The little old lady, instead of being witty and intriquing,(as I suspect the role is written) comes off rather slow and displaced.
The guys are alright. I don't know why I don't like it as well, but I don't. |

Cannot say I like it more than or even as much as the original. It looks like some of the characters from NCIS will also show up on NCIS Los Angeles once in a while. Abby Sciuto will be in the next NCIS Los Angeles episode "Killshot". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...geles_episodes Last edited by Taltarzac725; 10-14-2009 at 10:51 AM. |

NCIS LA is doing good because there is nothing else against it. Biggest Losers and Dancing with the Stars? Gimme a break. This is the only 9 PM show in town. I don't think it has the wit or camaraderie that NCIS has and I don't think they are trying to bring all of the actors together as an ensemble. If Linda Hunt is supposed to be the "Gibbs" of the group she isn't making it. There does not seem to be any one person in charge. Sam (LL Cool) lives with a chip on his shoulder and Ganin (Chris O'Connell) is no Dinozzo but he tries to act like him.
Maybe the crossovers will help.

The old NCIS is the best. The new show is relying on "hunk" appeal but the characters are kind of immature and not at all believable. Gibbs is still the best.

I love NCIS -- the characters are quirky, the writing shows some humor and intelligence, the plots are good (even if the whodunit aspect is pretty obvious most of the time). NCIS-LA has none of the humor, the characters take themselves too seriously. It's just boring. Even Helen Hunt's role has nothing really going for it. It's a shame because it has a good cast, just not good enough writers, IMHO.

I turned off the New NCIS LA last night after what I thought was very stupid writing. It just doesn't seem to be as good as the original. I always felt the same about CSI, the original was better than CSI Miami and CSI New York is just ok.

I don't understand the differences between the DC operation and the one in LA. In DC it looks like a large government office with labs and high tech media centers. In fact Abbey's lab is in a basement with windows looking out/up onto the street. The LA office is a covert location disguised as a condemned property. Is there something I'm missing? Is the LA office supposed to be a secret? The cast is ok in LA but I'm not sure if the chemistry is there. DC seems to work better. Actually, I don't go out of my way to watch either except for the fact that my wife likes them. Our all time favorites are "House" and "Fringe".
