I think they have one at Lake Imaging near the hospital.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Like an X-Ray but uses doesn't use x-rays, it uses magnetism. Most machine make you lie down inside a tube for the procedure. Some are designed so you don't have to be in a tube so you don't feel closed in.

Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised the Dr. that ordered the test does not know where they are located.

Thanks again,
Bob

An open MRI is for those who may be claustrophobic in a conventional MRI. Also, open MRI’s don’t have the resolution that closed MRIs have. You may consider a short tube MRI. They leave more of you outside the tube, but have higher strength for better imaging. Ask your physician about the Your choices. Open, Closed, Short Tube. If you don’t have a choice you could be medicated or sedated for closed tube.

The machine at Sharon Morse is not an "open" MRI but a wide bore MRI.

I cannot go into a regular MRI tube....I used to go to Ocala for a true open MRI....I now go to Sharon Morse...the wide bore machine is very tolerable for folks like me.

Some folks at Lake Medical Imaging do refer to this machine as open.....by comparison to the cigar tube...they are correct!!
