Default Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day to all!

Special thanks to all who have served, all who have lost their lives serving the USA, all of those who are serving now, and the famlies of all Veterans and active duty personnel.

Please take a minute to think about and pray for those Service People who are in harm's way today.

Thanks to all of you stalwart Veterans, including my husband, my father, my brother, and all of you other wonderful men and women out there, who keep us as the land of the free and the home of the brave.

AMEN tpop1 !!! I concur 100%.

Both of my parents are Veterans (Dad is 91 & Mom is 85) and I am sooooo proud of them and their service to our country. My Dad was shipped out on the Queen Mary to the Pacific and never got home for 4 years!! He served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea as an anti-aircraft gunner. My Mom was a WAVE in the Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX.

God Bless ALL the Veterans for their unselfish service and may he Bless those now serving and keep them out of harms way.

God Bless America !!!

Thank You Veterans!!
So.......what is a Veteran?
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life", and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that.
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag, who serves under the Flag,
Thanks to all of you, men and women, who have served our country. Your sacrifices will be long remembered and are definitely appreciated today.

BEAUTIFUL sentiment Tom. I've read this before...but it never hurts to read it again and again and to keep these words going forth. Freedom is definitely NOT "Free" and we all need to remember that. Not just today...but EVERY day!!

Funny thing... I've been a Veteran since 1985.... the only time I ever had Veteran's day off, even though it is a federal holiday, was when I was ON active duty!!! Go figure.

That's funny. When I was still working, my two boys used to kid me that everyone, except the vets, were off of work and out of school on Veteran's Day.
