Default Irrigation Rules

Some of the Orlando media have confused many of us relative to watering restrictions. They have announced recent changes in the rules and stated it effected all of Central Florida.

Not true. It effected those in the St. Johns River Management District.

Most of The Villages is subject to Southwestern Florida Water Management District rules which includes Sumter County. Our rules have not changed for some time. We still water one day a week, Monday through Saturday, depending on the last digit of our house number.

For the whole story check this site www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/

You will note some portions of The Villages in Lake County are in the SWFWMD and the Marion County section is in The St. Johns District. So, Marion and Lake County residents should check to see which rules apply to them.
