On a post a couple weeks ago, when the topic was high bad the ER, I mentioned I was going in for hip replacement....here was my experience.

Getting admitted was easy since I am a patient in The Villages Health so records move easily between the surgeon and my primary care so no carting ex-rays, no duplicate blood tests and no insurance conflicts. Arrived at 5:30 AM and was through pre-op by 6:10. After that I remember nothing..although I wasn't out (so they tell me) but was on the happy juice only.

Next thing I remember was post op and being transferred to a private room. The nurses and aids were wonderful, they were attentive and knowledge and the transitions between shifts was seamless, which was not our experience two years ago when my wife was in. The food (especially the chocolate brownies) was tasty and on time. Rehab was not the greatest fun (don't think it was supposed to be) but it was helpful (which is what is supposed to be).

Understanding that the ER is, and most likely will be, the achillies heel just because the huge fluctuations of population and where to get personnel to staff but I suspect they are working on that.

My reason for the post is to give a view from a patient on the inside I don't know how all the floors function but the third floor Ortho worked well for me.

Hearing from someone admitted for a scheduled procedure.
And requesting hearing from a true life threatening situation brought into the ER.

I had the same good experience with surgery and care in July of 2016. I would not hesitate to be admitted for care or surgery at TVRH. Thankfully, we have not had the need to visit the ER. I understand that it won't be a pleasant experience for many, but that is the nature of ER's all over the country. I can't imagine that our hospital hasn't addressed some of the issues mentioned, and are making an effort to improve the ER.
The population in the Villages is full of successful, knowledgeable people in all areas of expertise, including medical and medical administration. Might be a good idea for hospital management to put their egos aside, form a panel of GE and DB types, and get fresh minds working together to help them improve.

Chiming in to agree with this OP as I had a similar experience a few weeks ago....but "my" floor was #5.
