I saw it and thought it was terrible. Any other opinions?

Can you elaborate?

I'm reading Alan LeMay's The Searchers about the wars with the Plains Indians and thought the movie might be a good follow up.

The IMDB score at the moment is 7.3 from 6,100 voters. Normally 7.0 is the base score I use on whether to see the film at the theater or wait for the DVD or TV. So, it's near the bottom in that, then I read audience reviews and decide, and in this case I wouldn't go.

Here's a review I pulled off the front page of IMDB by a member of the general public

Astoundingly Dull

When exactly did Hollywood decide that long, boring, pensive, brooding, silent spans of emptiness are somehow entertaining? Who declared that incessant, empty, dialogue-free voids are developing the story, and building the tension? I suffered through this pseudo-artsiness in Planet of the Apes, Blade Runner, and now this.

What a disappointment. I love Christian Bale. I love a good, dark western. But what the heck was this? Did it really take them longer than eight hours to write the screenplay? If so, why?

"Meh. I wanna be outta here by 5. Just toss in some "310 to Yuma," mix it up with some "Dances with Wolves," borrow those good parts from "Unforgiven" about how hard it is to kill a man, and...whoa! Look at the time! OK. Toss in about an hour's worth of people riding horses, and looking anxious around a campfire, and...I think we're just about done here."

Oh, and why does Fort Winslow look like a recently built subdivision?

Yet another Hollywood stinker. What a waste of some great actors.

After this review, I wonder how some must think of the film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford from 2007. I loved that film and gave it a 10, it's IMDB score was 7.5 from about 150,000 voters. It was very long and very slow at times, it starred Brad Pitt and I eventually bought the DVD. You just never know until you see it for yourself.

Hostiles (2018) - Rotten Tomatoes

Liked it more than some. A noisy couple, fortunately, did walk out of it yesterday afternoon after making some loud comments to one another during it.

Ben Foster sure makes a good villain. He was also the chief villain in 3:10 to Yuma.
