Default Why would this be?

In another (very long) thread, one of our posters called The Villages about an issue being discussed here on Talk of The Villages. In her post, she quoted the Villages employee to whom she spoke. The quote was, in part....."....management has no access to this website so she is not able to read the forum."

Must be that The Villages has blocked the access, because this forum is open to everybody. I wonder why that is?

I would think that they would care what you all think. This is the only place in the Villages where you can say what you think publicly. Very strange.

Default Web sites blocked...

Many companies now routinely block access to web sites they feel are not needed for the job. Web sites not specifically authorized are blocked until authorized; then they are added to the allowable list.

The company I work for does this....it keeps spyware and spam to a real minimum, not to mentioned wasted time.

If T.V. does block sites, TOTV would have to be added to the allowable list by Security Administrator.

I'm afraid the reason goes a little deeper than this. I believe the Villages has blocked access to Talk of The Villages because they don't want employees to read what you are saying.

Seems to me TV employees have access to the TOTV website (when they get home), just not at work....GN

Default You can bet Gary is reading this now.

There is just too much anecdotal information on this site that the Morse family would be interested in knowing. I am sure that it is read by the powers that be.

I agree Gracie. I expect there are even a few staff that are directed to view the site and update management on "topics of interest". The rest of the staff is very likely blocked from access to TOTV while at work. (I'll bet some of them view it at home.) I was management with State government. We blocked the union's websites from access on work computers. However, I (and other management staff with personnel related duties) were given access just so we could see what was going on. Just the way things work.

I imagine staff of The Villages have also been directed to state they have no access to and no knowledge of TOTV. Management wouldn't want staff to get into any discussions with residents re: what is in TOTV. Ever hear that IGNORANCE IS BLISS? Haven't we all played that game?

I couldn't agree more, Gracie. There is a ton of info on this forum they would find useful. Among other things, they would see there are a lot of people who are anxious to sell their Northern home and/or retire and move here. They would see posts by many satisfied residents. On the flip side, they would find there are some disgruntled residents and maybe make some changes. It is a great way for them to keep their fingers on the pulse.
Blocking the site from their employee's computers is common practice. Personal browsing is a big problem in the corporate world. That has a flip side as well. Forbidden fruits! Some probably can't wait to get home and log on.

It was me Mr. Host, who said that Linda told me they do not have access at the offices to Talk of the Villages. I cross my heart that is what she said. I think I have said and done enough and dont want to stir the pot anymore than already have done. It is nice to know that you stay on top of things.
