Dad had urodynamic testing done and there is still some bladder function left. So the only chance to not have to use a catheter is TURP or green laser. I understand how both are done and leaning towards laser as seems less invasive. Looking to see if anyone is willing to share their choice and how it went. Thank you.

Dr. Dersch does a procedure called urolift, which is even less invasive, and doesn't remove any tissue. There is also another procedure that uses hot water or steam to remove tissue. I would check them all out before doing anything because they all accomplish the same function.

There is a urologist in Lady Lake, James Young, who uses a system called RESUM that uses steam. I would get an opinion from him as well.

I had Dr Dersch do a TURP on me and I am very satisfied with the results. I was using a catheter 100% of the time before which I absolutely hated. I am back to normal now.

Thank you. May I ask how long was your recovery?

I had to wear a Foley Catheter for 1 week, after that I was back to normal. I still go in once a year for a check up.

I had Green Laser last November. The surgery started at 9:30 am and was done by 11:am, in recovery for a couple hours and home by 2PM. Had a catheter overnight. Had burning when urinating for about 6 weeks. I have had no issues. If you want to talk to me about it call me 989 560 7181. Prior to the Green Laser I had to use a catheter for 3 weeks.
