Question R new forums needed?

Does anyone else think it might be good to start 2 new forums? One titled ABSOLUTELY FREE and one for BARTERING?

For instance, there is a national website called www.FREECYCLE.com (our closest one is out of Lady Lake) where people post items they have to give away and also you can post for items you are looking for. ALL items MUST BE ABSOLUTELY FREE !! It's a wonderful way to recycle things we no longer want, need, or can use. I just unpacked after moving to a new home in TV and ended up throwing away a lot of good stuff that someone else may have loved to have.

Also, BARTERING is a great way to save money in today's economy. If I do house painting and someone else sews, maybe I could paint a room for them in exchange for them making me a couch pillow.

I think BOTH of these forums are REALLY needed in TV....what do you think?

I think you're on to something, Patches. The Villages is certainly large enough to make both ideas worthwhile.

I think it would be a great idea. We have a set of Manufactured Home steps that are in great condition. We would like to get rid of and don't know what to do with them. They are MUCH to heavy for us to move and my hubby is threatening to take a sledge hammer to them I just know there is someone out there who could use them. Any ideas

Your administrators also thought it was a great idea several years back. There were bartering and free item forums on this site for a long time. They weren't used hardly at all, so after a year or so, we took them down.

Since we are here to serve the members, we will put them back up if you think they will be used. I do add, however, that it isn't a five minute job to create and place a forum on this site. But being your dutiful servant, I'll be happy to comply if the need is there.

Dear PR 1234: Unless and until the Administrator of TOTV decides to add this new forum, you can go to www.freecycle.com and register for the Lady Lake one. It's part of Yahoo Groups. You can then put your steps on there as an "OFFER:" and someone will want them and come pick them up. It's a GREAT website.

Well, let's give it a try. We need to let everyone know that these 2 new forums are there for them to use. Thanks.

Got a PM from the Administrator. He said he'd give it a try...again. He said up until 6 months ago they had both of these. I think it the work gets out...they'll be worth their weight in gold.

I 'm a member of Freecycle in New York, where I live. Works great. I don't have the patience to have a garage sale so it's a good way for me to get rid of perfectly good stuff. The idea behind Freecycle is, as the name implies, to recycle items to keep them out of the landfills. Think Green.

These Threads died rapidly once before and they will again .......Its a dumb idea .........They sometimes work moderately in farm communities but they won't work here ..
Unless of course you would like to trade for a cow ......
Just my opinion but my milking days are over........Come to think of it , I never had a milking day...........
You might try it on the South side of 466 , but it'll never fly here in the NORTH.............
As I recall , You also lost your Buffalo too ........We here on the NORTH SIDE refer to it as...
"THE HUNT FOR RED BUFFALO LAST OCTOBER "
Or words to that effect ,,,,,, anyway I say it won't fly .....

fumar .............
