Default Self driving taxi in TV

Is this pilot program in TV still going after the recent driverless car deaths in AZ ? Arizona has told Uber they can no longer test driverless cars in Arizona after a pedestrian was stuck and killed by a driverless car. Because of the accident in Arizona, Uber will not be testing in California either until a thorough investigation in Arizona is completed. I have never seen the driverless taxi here in operation but I know they are still advertising for volunteer passengers.

Let's hope they never come to TV. I am old school and don't trust a computer chip driving a car. Way to futuristic for me, who's accountable when the car does something bad?

I keep thinking that I'm seeing driverless cars, then I spot a head... through the spokes of the steering wheel. :

"In addition to mapping all 750 miles of road within The Villages, we will provide continuous updates of localization and navigation-critical data that Voyage self-driving cars will consume on the fly. With thousands of projected daily riders, this will be the largest operating autonomous taxi service in the world, ..."

I didn't know there was 750 miles of road.
Thousands of projected riders sounds too optimistic. How many uber cars are are availble?
I can't imagine a poll saying this will be well accepted unless it's dirt cheap.
I wonder if they will have 1 parked at most rec centers and move like a chess game or all parked at a central location.

if I see a driverless car in the villages It make me feel very safe. When I see a purple head behind the wheel I stay clear. Guess I'm from the new school get with the new tech please, I'm tired of standing behind someone with a purse looking for the exact change.

In the last couple of years I have turned into a backseat driver. I wasn't always like that. I find myself apologizing on every trip after I point out something that's potentially a threat. If I get in an autonomous vehicle I'll bet the computer turns off the microphone.

Since it's an experiment I guess it will be free. My suggestion would be to operate when the bars close and the next day, early in the morning, picking up the same people and returning them to their carts or cars.

Just think the police will not have to issue any citations for OMVI. Now that would be a record.....

Like it or not it's the future of transportation. You might be able to stop it like they did with color TV, the internet and the smart phone

I guess I am thinking about this from a very different perspective. It seems to me that most us will reach a point when we can't or won't want to drive. A driver-less car, available 24x7x365 would be a wonderful resource.

As long as the driverless cars can be trained to lay on the horn, when someone in front of them is spacing out after the light turns green...I'm good with it.
