Our new home has room to add a pool if/when we wish. We are definitely going to get the garage floor epoxy coated first thing. I was thinking of getting something done in the Lanai as well. However, I'm thinking the epoxy type finish could be slick under wet feet if we ever added a pool. Seems the Lanais I have seen with pools behind them have the sort of rough textured finished all the way across the lanai to the pool surround. Do the pool contractors put those finishes down or does someone else come in and do that? If so, who? I am thinking that if we want to put some kind of coating down, maybe just go ahead and do the textured type finish we would ultimately end up with around a pool.

A word of caution, you can NOT paint over cool deck with other paints (you should be able to use the regular house paint that was originally used) we had this done, and the original cool deck paint has failed causing the second coat of paint to come off. This same paint applied directly to concrete on the driveway and birdcage is just fine.
As for epoxy finish, these should have an additive called "shark grip" or equal so the final finish is not slippery when wet. Hope this helps.
