Default Metro Diner

I made my first trip to Metro Diner and really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. It was a bit noisy, but it was lunch time and was full with people waiting, so noise is to be expected. I had their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, it was very good, liked the roll they use, not soggy. My companion had Tomato soup and Onion Rings, did not like the look of the Onion Rings, but she said they were good.

I will certainly go back again. Nice to have a mid-level diner type restaurant for lunch.

I am glad to read your positive review. I was disappointed, but we went in the first few weeks of opening. We will go back now with your good review.

I have always had good food and good service at Metro Diner, and have been many times. The servings, IMHO, are HUGE! Always take something home.

No corkage fee, but you have to use the house corkscrew. $25.00.

I heard it’s a wine thief, so may not be much wine opened for $25.

After two trips we were not impressed with Metro Diner. Food and service were mediocre at best. We like Diners for breakfast and lunch and overall we are easy to please. Perhaps we had been at two many really good ones in Central Illinois during the summer?

We ate there once about six months ago and never desired to go back. I had the pot roast and previously had the Bob Evans slow roasted pot roast many times and it is much better than what Metro served. Also the noise level at lunch time was unbearable and the commotion seemed to never stop. It was like eating in the mall, not the food court, but in the mall.

One dish doesn't make a dining experience--why do villagers heap tons of praise on corporate franchise establishments-- are we that brain dead- that all we care about when dining out is burgers, shakes, fries, or cheap breakfasts

Really? Every once in a while, diners might enjoy burgers, shakes, fries and even a cheap breakfast. Whether believed or not, taste is subjective....some have a sharper sense for particular tastes...sweet, sour, etc. Biologically, that’s how it is.
