Default Skyscraper [the movie]

One word - unbelievable
If you have a moviepass, sit in the front row and soak it in.

If you have to shell out 10 bucks, don't bother, it's unbelievable.

Clarify your 2nd line. Which one? (For $10) Don't bother or it's unbelievable? Sounds like a "mixed(up) review!"

It is a mixed review. I try to review a movie in 2 ways.
Would I pay to see the movie?
Would I want to see it for free?

I like movies to be believable. I can enjoy a super hero movie because he or she has super powers. But I can't pretend a very strong man can have super powers. There is one scene where there are the same number of bad guys as good guys. The bad guys are carrying machine guns. The good guys are working on computers. Sitting in their chairs they are ambushed and the bad guys mow them down yet some how not a single computer screen gets hit with a bullet.

Most action movies nowadays require you to suspend disbelief. Sometimes to the point of laughable, even MST3K material.

Actually, it's pretty much always been that way...in a lot of movies anyway.

'Six gun' revolvers that can shoot 30 rounds without reloading, the bad guys never hit anything...and the good guys never miss.

I am planning on seeing this one anyway. Most summer blockbusters have very little that would actually occur in real life.

Thumbs up

Loved the details in this movie and it is nice to see Neve Campbell in something again.

1. Movie was almost as expected - but even MORE over-the-top CGI effects thruout. To a degree personally that was simply overwhelming. 4 of 5 stars

2. Some scenes were spoken in Mandarin (or such, set in HongKong) so some of the film had english subtitles - not a fan of having to read at the bottom of the screen while missing the actual visuals...I know...picky.

3. We really like Dwayne Johnson - he seems to have good 'wholesomeness' in personal life. And...I was pleased to be his un-credited body-double in some of the scenes.

BTW, just read that:
In 2018, D.J, The Rock earned an income of $124 million. Forbes declared that Johnson's $124 million 2018 income from his movies and Ballers HBO series was the largest ever recorded for acting in the 20 years the publication has tracked celebrity earnings.

Thanks for the MST3K reference. I've been watching Tom Servo et al for some time. Glad it is on Netflix.

Been watching Live Free or Die Hard while on my Die Hard marathon and it sure seems an awful lot is going on during July 4. I wonder why they have so many DC office workers leaving their buildings on a holiday. Maggie Q looks great though.
