Default lakes

this is a boaters paradise here. There are over 1000 lakes in Lake County alone. The biggest two in Leesburg are Harris and Griffin. They hold a Bassmasters tournament there also. You can actually put your boat in and make it over to the Atlantic through a series of lakes, locks, etc. We have Lake Miona here in The Villages where there is good fishing as well as water skiing, etc. Yes, there are a tremendous amount of lakes in the area.

Good fishing in lake Miona? I just fished Lake Deaton and got skunked! I think it's too early for specks.

Water skiing? What about the prehistoric creatures with big mouths and lots of teeth?

Those prehistoric critters are not very good skiers.

Default Where there's water...

If there is a drop of water anywhere in Florida, you can be sure there'll be a gator or two. Just remember that they cannot surpentine. So, if one gets you in his sights, just zigzag and you'll be fine. Something else that might be good to know - they can outrun a horse for a short distance.

Can you keep your boat in your carport, or do you have to store it someplace else? What does it cost to rent a boat slip monthly at the local marinias?

Default Marinas

I've seen boats in peoples garages at the Villages. I too, plan on bringing my boat to the Villages and have found plenty of Marinas on the internet. I'm bending toward the one in Chrystal River or one in Leesburg.

See: http://www.lakecountyfl.gov/boating/marinas.aspx

and: http://www.ilovemymarina.com/marina/...quamarina/1552

Hope this helps.

I too love Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia's best kept secret. 500 miles of shoreline and fantastic fishing. I like Clator Lake, too.
