We have a Begonia with stucco walls that was built in 2013 in Pinellas.

There is an opening in the outside wall that appears to be the dryer vent. However, the opening to the outside is only about 2 inches instead of the 4-5 inches of a normal dryer vent.

The flapper that covered the opening has broken off and we need to get this replaced.

No one, including Home Warranty, can tell me who provided this or installed it during construction. Warranty thinks the air conditioning company is responsible for providing the part, but Sunshine Air says no.

Does anyone else have this kind of dryer vent or know where to find a replacement?

I would make sure that the opening is the dryer vent. Warm air should come out when the dryer is running. I have never seen a 2 inch dryer vent.
They are usually 4 inches and it would be a problem if the installer connected a 2 inch pipe to a 4 inch dryer vent. But, Amazon sells several 2 inch round vent covers that have louvers and an insect screen. You may not need a flapper.

I think you'll find that you're looking at the vent for the microwave oven.

The dryer normally vents out the roof and the bathroom fans vent from beneath the eaves.

I would still cover the 2 inch opening with an insect screen.

In our 2011 Begonia, the dryer vent went up through the roof. The flap was installed incorrectly, and rain was pouring down into the dryer hose. It took two years for this to get straightened out, because the plumber and the roofer each said it was the other's responsibility. We kept after Home Warranty, and finally one of them (can't remember which one) gave in and fixed it.

But I think Hi Ho has it right, and what you're looking at is not the dryer vent.

I live in Pinellas. I'm pretty handy around the house. If you want I can come over and take a look at what you are talking about. Good chance I can tell you what it is.

Turns out the vent is for the central vacuum system that was installed after the house was built. Thanks everyone for your help.

OP, you can go to the building department in Pinellas plaza and ask for the house plans, 16 sheets if I recall, one of these will show all of the vents and how they are installed. We have a gardenia similar to the begonia, and our vent is through the roof.

Glad to see you determined what the vent is for. BTW, I have found these plans to be very useful. If you give then an email address they will email to you, and you can view as a PDF, this also allows you to copy and paste for any future modifications or ARC reviews.

I would still as suggested install wire fine mesh screens to keep insect from crawling in through the vent tube.
