Default Garage Door Remote help needed.

I have the standard MVP 1/2 hp openers on the main garage and the golf garage. The other day when I was leaving, I noticed that when I closed my golf cart garage door, my neighbor's garage door raised. I tried it again, and sure enough it was reacting to my remote.

To solve this, as my neighbor is seasonal and I didn't want to jeopardize his home, I decided to reset my opener code to ensure it wouldn't happen anymore.

The good news is, my remote wont open his door anymore, but unfortunately it won't open mine either! Luckily the wall controls for both still work, and the remote button for my main door works, but the remotes won't open the golf cart door. I have reset the codes many times before on Liftmaster and Craftsman openers, but this seems to be a different animal.
Can anyone shed light on this problem?

Jerry C...we have a similar problem. Bought an additional remote but can't get it programmed. Followed same directions as in the posted YouTube video. We also have never been able to program the button in our car.

Happy... I had tried it several times (actually more than several) but I wasn't pushing the paper clip in hard enough. When I did, it worked. Good luck to you, I know it's frustrating.

Like HappySnowbird I haven't been able to program the buttons in my Chyrsler Town and Country van. Weird because in the north and when we had a home in Ocala it was no problem doing so, but both those units are/were Liftmasters openers.

You should be able to program your car remote by using the same procedure shown in the video.

JerryC, you should also tell your neighbor to clear ALL of the codes in their garage door opener (not the remote) for all of the garage doors, and then reprogram when they return. There was a rumor (urban legend?) that there was a 'contractors' code that would allow the contractors to gain access when the houses were being built, and if not cleared out, allows access to any remote with that code.

My understanding was, there were various remote code settings on the opener, but the number of codes was limited? I'm not sure if this is still the case or not? I'm not sure of the contractor legend, but there were definite reports of individuals who would drive thru neighborhoods during the weekdays, and 'war dial' with remotes, hoping to hit the right code.

If you had to flip a series of numbered switches on your remote you will find similar switches on the garage door drive head. Those switches have to match the remote.

Very easy. Step ladder. With remote in hand press the black button on the bottom, red light will start flashing, hold your remote up to the flashing light and press the button on your remote you want to program. When the light goes out and door will open and there you go.

I have an MVP opener. There is no black or other colored button on the bottom of it.
