Sorry to take the post off topic, but it is my post, Is there a way to get your villages id card on your smartphone? That would be one less thing to carry around and I usually have my phone with me.

Ask at one of the recreation centers at a minimum, it would depend on if their cards readers would work with a photo of the card. Interesting idea. One downside is that photos are easily altered, so while the real cards have holograms, there would need to be a way to prevent alteration of the photo of the card.

I have mine on my phone, but they won’t honor it. This would be a good idea to put in the residents survey. I don’t want to carry it either. Everything else is on my phone. The only card other than villages id is my Visa card. Lots of stores don’t have epayment.

Can you just take a picture of it?

Same here. I have an app where I can upload store loyalty cards and other types of cards, i.e. AAA, AARP. I used it to upload my TV ID card but they will not accept it at the pools or at the rec centers. I hate carrying mine around...it's in my pool bag, then I forget to put it back into my wallet. Or I forget to take it out of my wallet and bring it to the pool.
Why can't TV add it to their app??? |

IMO I don't think it has anything to do with technology. The current system provides very high security against the duplication and attempted use by someone other than the original recipient. And it can quickly be replaced if lost. Others have pointed out the security built into our current physical card compared to a digital image(s) stored on today's devices. Each have their pros, cons and applications. All residents have a long-term interest in supporting and enforcing our current security/control/use of our amenities. It has proven to be a good system not really broken. I come to this conclusion as someone who has made a living integrating transaction ID methods as the technology has advanced. Sure, as a matter of personal convenience, keeping many copies in digital format would be great! Don

I'd be great if you could.
As to posting off topic...you didn't. It's a general discussion. I love the idea. |

I have my number on my pickleball bags, somethings I forget my ID, some will put the number in manually and my name and address pops up. And few are to lazy to do it.

Hubby has credit holder attached to phone. He only has his village ID in it.

I also put my ID on my phone, but was also told that it would not be accepted.
I think the point is that it wouldn't be too difficult to Photoshop someone's else's picture on your ID so they could use the amenities we pay for. |

I don't like it. It would be much less secure than the current system. You could just make multiple copies of the same card and replace the photos.

I don't know why they don't just micro chip people, same way they do our pets.
Carry nothing, no id's, passports, credit cards, money, the list is endless. Bleep! Your in! |
