Default Golf Cart Parade - Guinness World Record Try

I heard that The Villages would soon make another attempt (in May?) to form the longest parade of golf carts for a Guinness world record. Anyone know details?

I believe we already accomplished this a few years ago unless someone beat us out since then. I was just looking for my certificate and can't find it at the moment.

Just found it - 2005 3,391 carts. Maybe someone has topped that since then.

I took part in the original challenge in 2005. I'd frankly be very surprised if anyone has been able to exceed our 3,300 plus/minus record. But, if they have, then obviously TV must do it again.

Seems to me that the Sumter County Sheriff's office had some input on the size of our event in '05. Someone did some math on the anticipated number of carts and decided that a limit needed to be placed, simply to make the logistics manageable!

If there's to be a challenge, you can take it to the bank that I'll be there. I hope all resident TOTVers will, too.

I worked at the sign up tent at the Golf Fest and we were signing up people to take part in the parade. It is to benefit Wounded Warriors. Cost to be in the parade is $10 per cart. You can go to your local recreation center to sign up. The parade is in May but can't remember the date - 15th? They are hoping to get up to 5000 carts and are going over 2 miles to break the record. Should be in the paper soon!
