Default Awnings

Sorry, but I want to ask this one more time-maybe someone will see it that can answer. Have you put awnings above any windows? I would like to have awnings made and am looking for someone to suggest a company that does that. Thanks. Pat

Hi Pat,

My wife has been exploring the same routine. She had that in mind before we moved, and even wanted to put one over the garage. I expressed my displeasure but she has continued the search when after we arrived there is a home down the street (Baldwin Run) with awnings, even over the garage as well, that looks very nice. I admitted defeat at that point and she has been on the internet. She has found a company that sells DIY awnings that look very nice and appear easy to install. Google it and I'm sure you will locate them. She has even been looking at colors and I think they will send swatches to view. Good luck. Ray

In case you're not aware, you need approval of the Architectural Review Board, before you put them up.

Maybe the peeps at the Baldwin Run home wouldn't mind you knocking on the door to admire their awnings and ask who installed them.

There is a house on Havana Trail that backs to the golf course that has awnings. You might ask them.

I have seen the DIY site and it does look good, however, my husband and I are past our DIY days.

Already had the map out for Baldwin Run and will add Havana Trail. Will see if they are home and will tell me where they bought their awnings.

Thanks for reminder about the permit. I already have one.

And, thanks for the replies. Have gotten some excellent information from this site over the past year.

Was there much "red tape" involved in getting permission to install awnings?

If u frequent the Marion market, there are two vendors who sell awnings. I know people who have purchased the awnings from both of them and they are very satisfied.

Give them a try. They will both come to ur home and give u suggestions and an estimate.

There is a form in the front pages of the phone book for a permit. Or, you can pick one up at the building under the watertower on 466. Fill out the simple form, turn it in, with a site plan, at the building under the watertower. A week later, our permit was ready.

Will check out the market. What days is it open?

Try Sunsetter awnings . you can buy online and they are very easy to install, I just installed 2 10 foot ones and a 15 foot one on my villa. You could come by and look at them if you would like. I am at 17840 SE 91st Gaylark Ave in the Fairlawn Villas in the village of Springdale Phone is 3522057623. They also have a dealer in the Villages

I use All Canvas Fabricators - Steve - 728-4961. He did a great job. When I needed some repair work done after 7 years, he took the awning and fixed it for free.

I am getting ready to all him to put a new one on the front of the house.

Default Placed order!

Thanks for all the help. I did knock on some doors, looked in the phone books and newspaper. Today, I ordered awnings from Awnings Unlimited in Leesburg.

Business must be very good for the awning business. We don't get our awnings for eight weeks! The other place we shopped had a four week wait, but I really liked Awnings Unlimited and felt the wait would be worth it.
