This is probably going to be an area to avoid on that day.

It sounds like they vetted the people invited to this already so it looks like a done deal as far as who is going. Just going by what is on Facebook for the Sharon and The Villages Daily Sun.

CIA, Secret Service, FBI, aides, assistants, advisors, local, county, state police, all taking up the parking spaces, and blocking off access to and from the building for security reasons.
In most locations, there's plenty of real estate available to barricade off, so the locals can still come and go without too much inconvenience. This location though - it's gonna be a nightmare. Especially with golf courses closed due to excessive rain, Morse under construction in some spots and Buena Vista in other spots - be interesting to see how this goes just from a logistics point of view. Will they be able to keep Spanish Springs town square open the two hours before, during, and after the event, or will they have to clear the whole thing out? Will the golf cart bridge be open, or will they require it to be blocked off for security reasons? No one knows now, and I won't be down there this week but I expect that if there was the insanity of traffic/backup/frustration that I'm thinking there might be, it'll be posted. Maybe on some other forum but it'll definitely be posted somewhere. Last edited by OrangeBlossomBaby; 08-01-2019 at 05:40 PM. |

It'll be the tightest security that The Villages has ever seen. I'm predicting a total lockdown of the whole area.

He heard Bob Martin makes great lawn light signs and is picking one up for the White House.

Many of us will welcome him. Just as many would respect and be proud to have any president here.

Whether I respect the president or not is 100% absolutely positively irrelevant. The spray-tan thing was adding a touch of humor to what was a serious question. |

It's pretty much a given that it's going to be a significant event. If the only kinds of posts allowed in this thread were people saying how excited they are that the president is coming to town, it would be a really really boring thread.
Thankfully, this is a discussion forum, where people are allowed to discuss things. The topic is the location of the event, which will be significant. One aspect of this event is going to be logistics. Do you have something to add to the topic? |
