Default Builders blinds or mine

I will be placing an order for a new home soon. While in TV recently I stayed at a life style home (Gardinia) & found that the vertical blinds did not operate smoothly. I'm told that the blinds there would be what I would get. I'd love to close with the blinds already there but I really don't like the verticals fro TV. For those who have the blinds furnished from TV, I'd like to know your opinion.

Just two years ago people searching for a new home in TV did NOT have the option to build. There was a large selection of already built homes and they came just the way they were. Some had blinds, some didn't, some had washer and dryer, some didn't, etc.etc.etc. We bought a Camellia withouth blinds and without washer and dryer.

Although MANY here have used the two popular local blind companies, we opted to buy our blinds at JC Penneys and to install them ourselves and we have been satisfied. I think it was a little cheaper but I have not read one bad comment about the local blind businesses.

I personally don't like vertical blinds so we installed traverse rods and draperies at the great room's big slider.

We opted for the blinds chosen by The Villages so that they would be installed prior to us moving in. The only vertical blinds we received were the ones in our dining room where our sliding glass doors are. All other blinds were the horizontal type blind.

Personally, I don't like vertical blinds. To answer your question, I just went over and used our blinds. While the blinds close fine, they seem to bind when opening and you have to manually play with them to get them open. This has happened the on the few times that I used them. So to answer your question, I would say yes...the vertical blinds don't operate smoothly.

In any case, we never close our dining room blinds so it's not an issue for us since we always keep the dining room blinds open. All the other horizontal blinds work fine.

Our new home came with all blinds installed. We've had no trouble at all and actually like them more than what we had in our previous home.

I got a price of $900 through TV for blinds with a 1 yr warranty. I got a price of $700 from 48 Hour Blinds with a lifetime warranty. We chose 48 Hour and were very pleased with the service and quality. If I had to do it over again I'd definitely do the same thing.

Thanks "bluedog" I got the answer I wanted. I'm also going with the appliances that TV gives at no extra charge. I plan to sell them & get the appliances I WANT instead. I can even keep the fridge for the garage & STILL be ahead.
