It's time to get on with our lives! The villages needs to take the chains off the gates and allow residents the use of OUR amenities. I and many more like me have had it. I would rather take a calculated risk and live life on my terms than to cower in my living room listening to the liberal talking heads feeding me lies and half truths. It should be clear by now that this entire fiasco will be the end of the Republic unless we as individuals say"no more".
As for me, I'll take my chances out in the fresh air with others who enjoy playing senior softball. Yes I'll be taking a risk, but it needs to be my choice. As for those of you who wish to condemn my attitude as reckless I say MYOB. I know there will be many who will say this is selfish, I say it's more selfish to sit comfortably at home while Millions of young families struggle without work, without money, without hope.

Go for it. I don’t care. Just stay away from me and everyone else who doesn’t want to get COVID19.

What you can't understand, 1st time poster, is that you, and all the other people wanting the chains taken down, are putting other people at risk with your "me first" attitude.

The Villages knows what they're doing.

You are not the only person that feels that way. There are many that believe The Villages is always right and forget that they work for us, we should take no risk, that the virus is omnipresent and can be transmitted through the air over long distance, and that we should just shut up and be compliant. They will also be quick to try to run your life.

Yeah, The Villages is the only place on the planet with social constraints like this. Dang authoritarians!

So what is your playing a game doing for anyone out of work and not having money. Sounds more like entitled whining that you can not play your little game. Also if you are reckless and uncaring about other citizens you are infringing on MY BUSINESS. When your choices and risky behavior begin to possibly effect me, my perception becomes one of you do not care about me so I need to protect myself.

I was on a very good team with a great bunch of guys this past winter season. Before the recreation department decided to cancel the rest of the season, we were given the choice to play or not to play. Had anyone chose not to play for a concern about their risk of potential exposure to covid-19, there would be no repercussions from the softball league. I was one of the players that chose to not play. It was shortly thereafter that many activities were cancelled and that softball was officially cancelled. I too miss playing softball very much but I will patiently wait for this to pass and play when I feel I won't be at risk of bringing anything home to my wife who is one of the people who are in the high risk categories. Stay safe everyone!

It is because the silent majority are observing the advice and rules, that the vociferous minority are not being infected when they flout all guidlines.
If it was the other way round all of us oldies would be dying like flies!

Wow, what a dilemma: softball or risking the health of my friends and family. Softball or fam, softball or pals... Hmmmm. Sounds like you've found an alternative source of talking heads feeding you lies and half truths.

Amazing first post, BTW.

Totally agree. It’s been too long. It’s not healthy to be cooped up like this. If you are afraid and don’t want to go out, DON’T GO!

As the saying goes...you can't fix stupid. Unfortunately your selfish attitude will put others at risk when you shop, or come in contact with others who do not know about your risky behavior. Why do you think you have the right to put others at risk? Are your rights more important than theirs? I don't think so. Grow up and make a few sacrifices for the good of mankind. The world will be a better place if you do...

Surely you have some empathy for those who are struggling financially and desperately need to get back to work. As retirees, we can stay home and wait this out if we choose. Unfortunately there are citizens with young children to feed and bills to pay don’t have that luxury. Are you comfortable forcing some families to go on welfare? So you want EVERYONE except those that service YOUR needs to stay inside? We plan to proceed cautiously but won’t criticize other peoples choices.
