Default Late Nite Catechism

The Villages Florida[

Late Nite Catechism is an uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to their youth. The irrepressible “Sister” teaches class to a roomful of “students” (the audience). Throughout the course of the class, the benevolent instructor rewards her “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes. Naughty students may well find themselves on stage, sitting in a corner, reflecting on their actions. However, even the most reluctant "students" will be clamoring to get into this Sister's class. Now in its 14th year, Late Nite Catechism has brought its nostalgic kick to every state in the U.S. as well as to Canada, the U.K., and Australia.

Brighten your day. Google “Late Night Catechism” to view some video clips.

The show will obviously appeal mainly to Catholics, but non-Catholics will get a kick out of it too.

Show performed Wednesday, November 10 at 5:00 PM in our Social Hall. Light refreshments at intermission. Giant Raffle, 50/50. There are 2 levels of tickets: “General Admission” for $30 and front seats in the “Teacher’s Pet” section for $35.

We recommend that you buy tickets soon, as they are very limited and are available to the public. Tickets may be purchased the Church office during the week. They may also be purchased by credit card at http://entertainmentevents.com, however there will be a $3.00 surcharge per ticket. Questions? Contact John Farr at johnhfarr@comcast.net or 446-0331.

All proceeds go to the Saint Mark Debt Reduction Fund.

Ohhhhhh, I really want to see this show.

But, now that I read about it.....uh oh.....

I wonder if there could be any risk to a Protestant girl who might be in the audience.....a Protestant girl who grew up across the street from the Catholic Church......a Protestant girl who was known to let her Catholic friends hide out at her house when her parents were not at home and when the kids were supposed to be in CCD class.....

Ohhhhhhhh, I am going to have to think about this one......ohhhhhhh, just wondering....uh, no reason.

Default Almost Sold Out!

The first Late Nite Catechism is almost sold out. There are still a few seats left online through http://www.entertainmentevents.com There is a $3 surcharge per ticket for online purchase, but some find it convenient for to use their credit cards.

The good news is that we added a matinee on November 11 at 2:00 PM. The same actress, Colleen Moore will perform at both shows. She will be travelling from New York for the performances. Colleen has been doing these shows for over 10 years and has received excellent reviews.

If you are not familiar with the show, Google "Late Nite Catechism" and you'll be treated to some snippets of the various available shows. Ours is Late Nite Catechism I. In the future we're planning on offering Late Nite Catechism II, and III, a Christmas-themed show and others.

Show format is 1 hour 15 minutes of stand-up comedy, a 30 minute intermission followed by 45 minutes to an hour of audience interaction. Light refreshments will be served by the Woman's Guild during intermission.

Tickets for the matinee are available in the Church office: General Admission $30, and "Teacher's Pet" (front section) seating is $35. Tickets are also available online for both shows. Saint Mark's Hall is located at 7081 SE Hwy 42, Summerfield (just east of railroad tracks on north side).

The way sales are going we may be adding a third show in December.

If you have questions call me at 352 446-0331 or email me at johnhfarr@comcast.net

John

By the way - we now have all props and the set is ready to go!

Default Late Nite Catechism

As of today there are 19 General Admission ($30) tickets left for the 5 PM show on Nov 10, available online only ($3 surcharge).

"Teachers Pet" and General Admission tickets for the Nov 11 show are available at the Church or online.

Two tour bus operators have expressed interest in making the show a day trip from afar, so additional shows in December or January are a real possibility.

By the way, this is Late Nite Catechism 1. Sequil shows Sister Strikes Again: LNC 2, Till Death do us Part: LNC 3, Sister's Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi's Gold will probably be offered by St Mark in the future.

Default Late Nite Catechism Update

The first show is now completely sold out (500 seats). Sales are brisk for the second show on Nov 11, with 1/3 of the seats already sold.

Nov 10 5:00 PM show only: There is open seating for each section and we expect a line before the doors open at 4 PM (too early to eat for many). So we're offering hot dogs, chips and soda before the first show, since many may be hungry. You can eat inside the hall while waiting for the show.

At intermission for both shows the Woman's Guild is offering a light snack of cookies, coffee, etc.

A lady called yesterday to offer loan us a giant-sized set of rosary beads as a prop. I accepted and now have to figure out how to respectfully display them. Probably around the base of the statue of Mary...

We're having a ball setting this show up, helping construct the "set" and finding all of the props! Everything is ready for the BIG DAY!

Seating will be fairly spacious, with a 3" space between chairs. Also, the space between rows is required to be larger than usual so "Sister" can get into the aisle to reach anyone she spots.

The first part is 1'15" stand up comedy, followed by 30" intermission, then 45" - 1 hour of audience interaction.

uh oh.......I wonder if this information means that the "girls" in the audience should rethink wearing black patent leather shoes.

Default Countdown

With 7+ weeks to go we already have over half the seats sold for the second show! We're ready to add another if demand continues.

We installed the "set" in the Church Hall this week and are putting the finishing touches on it now. It really looks like a 1950s pre-Vatican II Catholic School classroom. As a special touch, second and third graders from St Paul's Catholic School in Leesburg are providing "student art" which will be prominently displayed.

The neat thing is that while everyone is having fun $8-10,000 from each show goes to the Church debt reduction fund (pays down our new Church mortgage).

We can't wait!

Default Late Nite Catechism

It has been a while and I wanted to update you on the show's progress.

The first show, which starts at 5:00 PM on November 10 is completely sold out. Since it is around supper time we felt some may be hungry, so before the show we'll offer hot dogs, chips and soda for $3.

Light refreshments will be served at both show's intermissions.

There are still some tickets available for the 2:00 PM show on Thursday, November 11.

I hope you can join us for a fun time!

Default Late Nite Catechism

The first show last night was a HUGE success! The actress was in top form and the audience laughed throughout the entire performance.

There are still seats available for today's 2:00 PM show. The show ends around 4:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Proceeds are for a worthy cause.
