Default Identify Vietnam medal

I am cataloging my dad’s military medals and can’t find this one on the web. I know it is from his service during the Vietnam War. Is anyone familiar with it who can give me info?

Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Staff Service 2nd Class Medal

A military award of South Vietnam issued between the years of 1964 and 1973. Awarded to U.S. service members having performed at least six months of military duty, while serving on a military staff, with such performance being above and beyond that which would normally be required for the position. The 1st Class version is awarded to officers and the 2nd Class version to NCOs and enlisted.

That doesn’t appear to be official medal , I had a lot of years in Laos and Vietnam , sometimes individual units made up insignias for themselves or it could be something he picked up from some other military, if you know your dads unit , you could research it from there , your a good son

Default Thanks for finding that

I just read it . I never applied for any of the medals after like sing them or never receiving them the ribbon was fine , although I don’t have them either but as long as they were on my records I couldn’t care less

If you go to Wikipedia and look for South Vietnam Staff Service Medal you can compare yours to the picture.
