Default Light at the end of the Tunnel

Cross your fingers for the Gulf Coast folks. News on all channels seem to agree that the road to recovery is in sight for those folks.
They sure need some good news after all they have been through.

Old Rushbo predicted weeks ago that the ocean would heal itself and the people mocked him.

Was that necessary?

No. We all knew it allready, so no need to rub salt into the wound, but Pat, you did bring up the bad memory.

Here is a link to the NOAA's recent explanation as to where the oil is or has gone:
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories...00804_oil.html

BTW, is El Rushbo an affectionate nickname or a negative synonym? I went to the Urban Dictionary site, and there were conflicting definitions.

Default It's STILL Here...

Sorry to report, the oil is still here off of Venice, LA., although most of the surface slicks, sheens and globs are not visible. Just 2 days ago, we woke up to oil near Main Pass that wasn't there the night before. The area near Pass-A-Loutre WMA still has oil back in the roseau canes that workers have no idea how to remove. Since this is marshy area, you can't walk there nor drive a boat that far back. Just yesterday, there were crews cleaning up oil with kitty litter scoops on the barrier islands just East of here and south of the Mississippi coast.

It is definitely better than it was here in Venice, but the submerged oil is still rolling around in the currents out there and the massive amount of Corexit dispersants that were used have become part of some huge algae blooms and red tide.

Now that the leak has been sealed, we'll see if things move faster as far as getting the Gulf restored. Turtles are still being rehabilitated by the Audubon Institute and some are still being found dead. Pelicans becoming oiled seems to have slowed down as the thick black tar-like oil is not as prevalent.

Thanks to everyone at TOTV for your concern. It is definitely better, but there is still much oil unaccounted for, regardless of what NOAA or the government shows on their "pie chart".

Check out www.plaqueminesparish.com for local updates and photos.
