My wife and I are coming for a LSV on Sunday. According to the net there is a 40 - 60% chance of thundrstorms every day. Over the years we have visited Disneyworld several times and noticed that there was a thunderstorm almost daily in the afternoon and it usually lasted about and hour or so and then cleared up. Is that what we can expect or do the storms last for hours? We never really minded the brief storms at Disney because they cleared the crowds as a lot of people thought they would last much longer.

First, welcome to TOTV! I am excited for you that you're coming down for a lifestyle tour. You'll love it!

Yes, the "pop up" thunderstorms generally are of short duration and often quite isolated in area. We got rained out after 9 holes on one golf course in TV in June and drove about two miles to another one, which got no rain at all!

Have a great time in The Villages. When you get back home, please post to let us know what you thought.

I wouldnt worry about the rain--If you look at the forecast any given day it shows the same ---90s and chance of rain ..You will get rain but as you said short durations and everone just keeps going on with what they were doig before it started pouring...

How long are you staying ?

"high, mid 90s with afternoon thundershowers" is locked in the masthead of the Daily Sun at this time of year. That is the usual pattern. If you can bring a good downpour for 10 or 15 minutes you are more than welcome. We really need the rain. As soon as it stops we promise the golf courses will dry up, the flowers will shine and the pickleball courts will be clean.

Come on down. You'll become one of us when you see how great it is in the Summer.

Wow! Is TV cool or what?

We spent the first couple of days trying to soak it all in. Finally, went to a few of the activities and really enjoyed ourselves. Everyone is so friendly and everything so manicured. Its like living on a movie set.

Likes:
Golf cart trail system is awesome.
Activities everywhere.
People friendly.
Relaxed - unhurried lifestyle
Houses and yards are great
Plenty of stores and restaurants

Concerns:

Wal-Marts affect on local businesses
Wife read Liesureville and is conviced I will fall prey to mobs of lonely women. Stupid book

Anyway, I'm ready move in as soon as a I retire. Wife is a little apprehensive.

Tell your wife that Leisureville was written by a person who found it uncivilized to not have children running all over the place!! Most of us have read it and it is total balderdash!

Where Wal-Mart is concerned, don't shop there if you don't want to.

We just got back from a 2 week visit & it rains a little everyday. But after golfing nine holes it feels great. I was surprised how warm the rain is there compared to Minnesota.

Hate to say it but just about everything you need is in Wally World and usually cheaper too. We drove back to Calif from TV in May and most of our rest stops were at the local Wal-Mart. They are everywhere and you know in advance what to expect when you get there.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

If your wife has nothing to worry about where you live now, she has nothing to worry about in TV. Is she apprehensive because of the alleged mobs of lonely women, or for anything she actually experienced at TV? Did she enjoy TV as much as you did?

The single women I know in TV aren't lonely.

Walmarts are everywhere (except in the New York area?). I don't understand why they would affect business in The Villages.

As far as Leisureville, it is pretty accurate for the most part. The sex part I think he threw in to make a little money on the book.

The more you get involved in all that TV has to offer the more you will enjoy it. My wife was a little reticent about 5 years ago when we first visited with an eye toward the future. But now she can't wait!
