Default Fly the Flag in Remembrance of 911 (Patriot Day) ?

I noticed (surprised) that many (most?) local neighbors have taken down their American Flags from Labor Day. I'm not sure why one would not put out the Flag in remembrance of September 11th ?

Never Forget

Most of us have this day firmly embedded in our heart.

If you have a flag that is on a flag pole it is suggested it be flown at half staff in memory of the heroes we lost that day.

If your flag is not on a flagpole it should/ can be flown with a black streamer in lieu of half staff.

We don't have a flagpole so it doesn't apply to us. But I am sadly disappointed to see all the flags that ARE on poles on the entire route from the Paradise postal station to our house (around 3/4 mile total distance) are at full mast. What's even sadder, is that some are (and have been) in horrible condition. Tattered, faded, torn at the hems. If it were homes where snowbirds live and the homes have been vacant for months, I could sort of understand. But these are homes that are currently occupied.

Fake patriots, as far as I'm concerned. They wave their flag as a pretense so they can claim some kind of superiority over people who don't, but have no actual understanding or respect for the flag at all. They'd be more respectful if they just didn't fly it at all.

We can all remember where we were on 9-11. My cousin worked in the towers but thankfully took a vacation day to close on a house in Island Park We will never forget!

I was working in Pratt Whitney that day, as a temp doing some spec-writing and editing for engineers working on some of the military helicoptors in a government contract job. One of them had the TV on his monitor in the background while he was working, and told us all to take a look...

While we watched the first tower collapse, another engineer commented on how our building would make a perfect target, since we were working on military helicopters and we were a HUGE building (a single building that took up around 4 city blocks of space, with air-conditioned trailers we worked out of scattered along the floor and dozens of stations where each part of the helicoptor's blades were made and tempered and soldered and whatever else...)

Soon as he said that I grabbed my pocketbook and RAN through the warehouse out to the parking lot and drove home, called the temp agency and told them I wouldn't go back to that job because I didn't want to die.

I spent the rest of the day glued to the TV, sobbing uncontrollably and horrified.

“How can a nation be so good at caring about 3,000 lives that ended 19 years ago and so bad at caring about 200,000 lives that ended this year? One was caused by the attack of an enemy who swore he’d kill us; the other was caused by the mistake of a leader who swore he’d protect us.” Walter Swab

???? Mistake? Like closing the country to CHINA ON JANUARY 31, despite all others (incl J.B.) stating NO! (xenophobic!!!!). Then Europe shortly after(same screams). Then shutting down the ENTIRE country causing economic peril, but did. Ramped up COVID testing dramatically. A 'Manhattan Project-like' Vaccine program. Private industry charged with manufacturing PPE. From almost ZERO ventilators to supplying the world. Feds converted Javitz Center in NYC and ship Comfort for COVID patients - then Cuomo sent COVID seniors BACK TO nursing homes, not even using these Trump-supplied resources. And NOW Cuomo is RAILING against the Pres - BLAMING HIM!!! very rich... This is all off the top of my head - OK, go back and watch your biased TV news... Do you even know about the start of dramatic Middle East PEACE deals the White House is making?????
