I'm glad that we're not just stockpiling stuff that will never be recycled or creating more landfills

we had one of these plants up north...with the 'scrubbers' on the top of the smoke stacks it was pretty clean air going back out into the air and it generated a lot of energy

when you drive down toward Ft Lauderdale on the Florida Pike...the various 'Mount Trash' sites are pretty much vying to be the highest point in the state of Florida... Who needs a trash heap in their back yard

Publix is continuing to accept their grocery bags for recycling. Publix told me they are not part of The Villages so they will continue to recycle. I'm not sure those bags are going to wind up in a landfill. Where do you think those grocery bags will go? Are you going to continue to bring your grocery bags to Publix for recycling? I'm not sure if Winn Dixie or Walmart Grocery are continuing to accept grocery bags for recycling. I haven't been to either of these grocery stores to see.

I was told plastic bags are not recycled, they are simply collected, bundled together, then taken to a dump.

Then why have we been bringing out grocery bags to the grocery stores all this time? I thought they were being recycled.

Nobody is taking that type of plastic anymore. I'd bet they just run it around back to the dumpster.

There seems to still be a market for recycled paper and cardboard. I recently read where a facility is going to be built in Tampa to recycle paper and cardboard. Keep your paper and amazon boxes and take them to recycling bins at a church or school.

With the aluminum can shortage, I would think we would be encouraged to save and recycle these. Does anyone know where a aluminum can collection point might be?

All metals, including aluminum, are recycled just by putting into your trash with everything else.

Thought more about this......I would rather the plastic grocery bags be brought to the Covanta Facility. Then, these bags will be turned to energy.
