With all the attention given the proposed mosque near ground-zero in NYC; not a lot of attention is given to the true moderate Muslims who are no fans of the branch of Islam that is behind this.
To make matters worse, our own government has for years, (yes; even the Bush administration), been propping up and backing this extreme, but dominant, branch of Islam. Here is an informative article by Andrew McCarthy on this issue that I thought many of my fellow TOTV'ers would benefit from. http://www.nationalreview.com/articl...rew-c-mccarthy |

I divide it this way. There is religious Islam and there is political Islam. Political Islam has absolutely no good to offer this country are any other country that wants to exist. Religious Islam as those who stay within the confines of our laws and Constitution should be free to practice as they wish. Just some thoughts Yoda |

As Americans, most are Christians so we like to think of religion as a way of life that allows everyone to love and respect each other. Read the Sermon O the Mount and imagine how nice it would be if everyone followed those teachings. Muslims that follow the Koran are close to Christianity in their belief unless they include
Sharia law into their belief. Thats when they turn into primitive beings. The stoning of women, female circumcision, honor killings etc. are done mostly by the followers of Sharia Law. Think of Turkey where sharia law has been outlawed and you will see a moderate Muslim lifestyle. Many of the people from Afghanistan and Pakistan still live in primitive conditions; hence the tribal regions are where Islamic radicals set up camp. Iran has internal problems because the general population of Iran is becoming more and more advanced yet their Political leader is supported by Radical Islamic Clerics. Moderate Muslim: OK Radical Muslim: Bad Moderate Christian: Good Tim McVey Type Christian: Bad Most religions have a freak or two in shadows, its just that Muslims have tens of thousands of the bad ones. That is why (in my Opinion), that the moderate Muslims are afraid for their life if they speak up to denounce the bad ones. Break that habit and we can uncover Osama Bin Laden and the rest of his hooligans. Or we could all convert to the Muslim faith and the problems would be solved. I'm not interested in that, but its just a thought. |

Self described intellects and "great thinkers" such as Mike Tyson and Louis Farrakhan have labeled him a Christian for reasons known best to themselves. I personally do not consider either credible sages. To suggest he is any kind of Christian, good or bad, is disingenuous. Have a great day in the Villages. |

If we have such a category as moderate Muslims they are that way because they do not know the Koran.
The so called radicals will eventually kill all moderates and or infidels in the name of and as they feel instructed to do so by the Koran. |

I'm sure your right about McVey, but you are wrong when all you could glean from my post was that I thought McVey was a Christian. He personally had nothing to do with the intent of my post. Sorry you could not understand my meaning. For you smart guys, I was just trying to say there is good and bad in all religions. GGGGeeeeezzzzzz ![]() |

I spent 22 years in the US Army. I am sorry you so little faith in our service members to feel that the radical will win.

I only posted this article to present a view of this issue that might stimulate conversation. I don't expect these "Americanized Muslims", as I labeled them, to have any serious prospect of toning down the hate of America and its values that are preached in the very Mosques that they attend in the near future, and probably ever, but it's still worth noting. |

As a former army guy, I feel your pain. Problem is that the war will be fought on many fronts including the media, and the political hacks of all parties.Technically, the military is controlled by civilian leadership, hence how we "lost" the Vietnam war.

My pleasure Lou. It's a volatile issue and elicits strong emotions from people because our options to combat the threat are stymied by the inflexibility of the purveyors of the threat.

And how many of you "Good Christians" follow every tenet of the Bible?
Ever read Leviticus? I certainly have and that was one of the things that drives me away from organized religion. |

Unfortunately, Religion keeps blinders on everyone equally. We have denominations here in the Christian world that declare any other denomination not their own are condemned to burn for eternity. It always amazes me when any man of God will condemn another if his religious choice differs from his own. Muslims appear to follow their Koran in a more devout correctness than do Christians, but since they are sworn to violence against the infidels, thats not a good thing. The King James version of the Christian bible is more in line with Socialism views than Capitalism so we just ignore its message. OH well, what are ya to do? This is still my country of choice to live in. God Bless America..
This is just my opinion and in no way reflects the feeling or beliefs of the majority of this Web Site or the folks than control it. |
