Default TV Pickleball ratings clinic

A couple of friends went to the ratings clinic recently. They were paired with a 4.5 and a 5.0 because there weren’t any players of their level. My friends are not close to that. The ‘pros’ proceeded to show off on their serves, returns, dinks, etc. They even poached which is not something my friends do....yet. The evaluator did not ask the ‘pros’ to dial it down or ease up. Why not? What kind of evaluation was this? It was a great show of the ‘pros’ and their skills. I’m wondering if the evaluator even has a chance to see the level of my friends who CAN serve, dink, volley and return. Shame on you! What a waste of their time.

Did they get rated? Did they end up with a rating that seems correct?

Not yet. How long do they have to wait?

When I got rated few years ago they told me my rating before I left. Maybe they changed that since then? Rating subjective depending on rater’s. If you don’t go to there drills and classes and just walk on you’re mostly will be rated lower than higher.

When I was young, I was a 10. Now I'm happy being a 5.

They don’t tell you your rating that day. It is posted online a few days later. If your friends went on Oct 21, those results have been posted. The website is Play Pickleball-B Forever Young - WELCOME On the left is a drop down menu with men's and ladies ratings in two separate pdfs.

You know this is a tough one. Going in you, or I , would want an honest rating, and the way to do that is to play the best you can. I'd hate to be a 4.0, play dwn, and be rated a 3.0 after three years of drills and work, and study of the game. ??????

My point ultimately was how depressing and frustrating it was to NOT be able to show the evaluator what skills they could do WELL AT THEIR LEVEL. They felt humiliated, embarrassed as it was just a showcase for the other 2 ‘pros ‘.
All is ok...ratings came today. They’re what my friends asked for, but still.....
