Default Grandchildren visit?

I am wondering anecdotally, what percentage of Villagers are grandparents and what percentage of grandparents get visits from their grandchildren?

I get how one might mention that their grandkids come down every year or never, but what I am really after is what do you think is the percentage is as best as you can tell.

Thank you,

-Just curious

I would guess 86.895% +- .1% are grandparents and 84.6432% +- .21% of those get visits. The being said, we are and about 2x a year and the fact they are both college aged teenagers makes them prefer to be home with their friends where pot has just been legalized (not saying they use it but just an anecdotal guess).

We have 5......and our kids and grandkids will start coming down after we get the vaccine and the kids get theirs. Zoom works fine, facetime works fine and the phone works fine.

If you go to the squares at Christmas time or in the summertime, you'll think it's 100%. That's why in normal times, during the summer they have camp for grandchildren right here in TV. You can read about all their exploits in the newspaper when it happens. Wait until next summer.

You mean younger grandchildren. Many grandchildren are way above "Camp Villages" age.

That sums it up for us too. They miss us and we gather by zoom once a week. They are both busy young executives. One is recovering right now from Covid-19. He was able to work from home during his illness. They both are aware of the risk of Covid at our age but come down three or four times a year, usually.

Everyone I know who has grandchildren see them frequently. We waited to move here until ours were both in College. We lived close to them as they were growing up and we all enjoyed that and they know us well and we know them well.

We have eleven grands, scattered across the US, from age 4 to college students. They come on average of twice a year. The older ones love playing golf, basketball, and driving the golf cart. The young ones love the pools and bocce. Some try to come while others are here, to see cousins that live far away. We rent a house close by and they all eat at our house. We love hearing their laughter and seeing them enjoy the sunshine. They all love dancing at the squares, especially the younger ones.

Hard to say. Maybe less than 50% visit. Just feels like more cuz the little ones are outside all over the place playing, going for golf cart rides, running around, playing tennis, pickleball, basketball, bocce, shuffleboard, climbing on the outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, and playing in the pools. You know, having a blast. Pre covid most kids were here during school holidays and in the summer. I have noticed a lot of kids around since Thanksgiving.

I suspect that most Villagers are grandparents and many (including me) encourage grandkids to visit. That being said ... the best time to have young grandchildren (2-13) visit is during the summer so they can participate in Summer Camp if you’d like them too. Lots of things for kids to do here in the summer - and they make new friends, too.

Our teenager grandchildren were here and loved every part of the Villages. They didn’t want to go home. They love sports so we were busy, doing something outdoors, everyday. The residents were so kind to them. They taught them to play beach tennis. They even had a picture of them playing in the Daily Sun. If you are a non active resident have the grandchildren stay home. We had a great time but we organized our own activities. They didn’t get time to do it all. They’ll be back. Life’s what you make it.

Our grandkids were just here this past week. We did Disney and had fun around here too. Fishing, golfing, Air-Boating, biking, swimming. I love that their parents subscribe to the belief of Faith over Fear. Get out and live people!

When we first moved here in 2009 my Granddaughter was here every school Holiday. Then as she got older it was summertime. Now she lives down here and see her quite often. Before I get slammed I knew & know the rules and we did & do follow them. Now they don't pertain to her!
