Default Area Vets and Kennels

Hello,
My hubby and I will be moving to Pennecamp when our house sells. We have 2 little long-haired miniature dachshunds who are just turned 12, but look and act much younger. Would love to hear recommendations for both local Vets, and boarding kennels, and any of either of these you would not recommend. We would also like to know where any of the Emergency Vet places are? We are moving away from the most wonderful Vet we have ever had, and that is the very worst part about moving.

When we moved here we had 2 elderly dogs (both now gone) but we used Paws Animal Hospital by Laurel Manor. We were happy with Paws. As for boarding we used ABCD (All about Cats and Dogs) which is located in Belleview. They were absolutely wonderful to our dogs. They also had a run where the dogs weren't just confined to a cage. We had always kenneled our dogs when on vacation and ABCD was the best kennel we have ever used. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Welcome! We have a 10 year old red longhaired mini dachshund and a 7 year old Boston Terrier. Our little dachshund is definitely the Alpha and rules the Boston. So funny.

We use Park Heights Animal Hospital L on 466A R on 27/441 a short way. Also use ABCD for boarding our little ones. They share a run and can go in and out at will. Also use Preppy Pet. They are very nice, a little closer, but no runs. OK for short stays.

Hello,
I have just moved to Pennecamp with a Jack Russell also 12. A discussion at the pool regarding vets was the following: PetSmart has a fine service vet service but it is abt 8 miles away. Paws, near 466 & Buena Vista has separate entrances for cats/dogs, but I
heard not so great. There is another near the WalMart on 466 in Buffalo Ridge that is supposed to be good. That is all I know regarding animal care.
I did leave Smokey with a lovely lady, at her home overnite, last week. We had a day trip that left very early in the am. That worked out nicely. There are several individuals, in The Villages, that take in pets for short/long term stays. Also off property there are a few kennels - I have not heard anything yet.
Hope this helps you some. I know I was apprehensive when we came last month, but I
took him to have his nails clipped at PetSmart, they were nice.
Take care,
Ginny

Thanks so much for the replies. I will definiaetly check out all of them. I don't mind spending time looking out for somewhere great for our girls. They really are our kids. The ONLY bad thing about moving to TV is leaving our doctors, and our Vet!!!!! I really like the idea of having someone keep them in our home. Thanks again!!! Vicki

Default Vet

Welcome new resident...I have recommended House Calls Mobile Vet before and will continue to do so...Dr. Rebecca Fratello and Vet. Tech Robin are the best. Since we moved to TV 5 years ago our concern was what Vet. would be as good as the one we used in Massachusetts. We didn't think we would find anyone as caring...but was wrong. The phone number for them is 352-815-0404. If you have any questions send me a PM.

My favorite bridge partner is a retired vet. He used to fill in here for the local vets but has quit doing so. The vet he recommends most is Dr. Alvarez (I think is his name). Send KathieI a PM and ask her -- she used this vet. I've seen him and his staff in action and they really are good and caring.

For overnight stays, I highly recommend Yvonne Paradis. She is truly amazing with dogs and loves them all. I've recommended her to a few people here. They're all thrilled with her services.

How do I get in touch with Yvonne? We just moved in last week and have a cruise planned next week. I need a place for Zoie that will keep her at their house. She does not do well being kenneled. Thanks

Hi, We pass papers on our house in Pennecamp on 9/3 and for the 5 days before that we needed to board our dog as we were staying in a pet-free home. I highly recommend ABCD (All bout cats & dogs) in Bellview. We dropped her off Monday and were told to visit her as much as we wanted, anytime (always a good sign). You sign your pet up for activities as little or as much as you want. The place is in the country and very clean. The people there are very loving to the animals and very nice. We visited today (unannounced) and played with our baby for awhile before having to leave. She's quite happy and promptly trotted back into the kennel without a second glance. We were kind of insulted. Oh well. She's happy and we're getting a lot done in the meantime. They give a free bath after 3 days and we'll pick her up on Fri after the closing.
