Default shade options for west facing CYV

We have a courtyard villa with a slider and living room window facing west. With new furniture coming soon, I would like to hear what other folks have done to reduce both furniture fading and glare on the television that is opposite the window. Is window tinting enough? It would be nice to still be able to see outside.... Retractable awnings? Fixed? Wind problems with awnings?

I don't have that issue, but my neighbor put up a pergola and says it works well.
No wind issues, no raising/lowering, and it lets in a fair amount of (shaded) light.
Just something to consider.
