Wink Mad as Heck at First...Then Not So Much.

Our phone rang in the middle of the night last night. Knee jerk angry reaction of course. What the heck can this be!?!

A voice comes on...it's from Community Watch. A nice lady tells me that one of their drivers noticed our garage door open. So he called it in and the office called us.

What a great service. Makes me happy to be a Villager.

Happened to us too a few years ago - yep, the call at 2:30am scared the H@LL out of us (you know the first things going thru your mind). It was CommWatch, open garage door, phew.

I then decided, being a problem-solving tinker-guy to almost-ensure that doesn't happen again. Installed a microswitch on the opener, so when the door is open, an LED lamp inside our Laundry Room goes on/stays on. I mean, it was so much trouble to open the connecting door to check that the garage door WAS closed... Now before sack-time - is the light on?

Make sure your house number is visible. Community watch might save
Your golf clubs from theft. More importantly, EMS might save your life.

We had exactly the same thing happen. Angry? No I do not wake up angry. Hate, I try to keep that list empty as well. That way I can devote my full attention when it is justified.

As to garage door opened. It is possible you forgot. It is also possible one of your neighbors has their opener programmed the same as yours.

The same is true for locks. Years ago I had a yellow Datsun. On a public parking lot,
I put my key into the trunk of a yellow Datsun and realized immediately the stuff in the trunk was not mine.
