My family always thought my Uncle was in the D Day landing (his Regiment was). We also knew he was a POW at some point. I finally put it together that he was taken POW in North Africa, 18 months before D-Day. The 16th Infantry went from North Africa, to liberate SIcily; to D-Day.

My uncle was at Anzio and received a Silver Star for his actions.
