Default Scam of the week

Like everyone else I like a good deal
This week went into the Publics liquor store
My neighbor told me Pinnacle Vodka was on sale Wild Cherry $14 and some change Been paying $16 and some change
Hey save $4 on two bottles. Not Bad
I entered the store and immediately
Saw a display that Pinnacle Vodka was on sale buy 2 get 3rd free
$16 and some change the $14 was last weeks sale
I asked the attendant If flavored was part of the the buy 2 get 3rd free ..Replied yes their around the corner Boy was I surprised good old Publics was up to there old tricks
raise the price and scam you into thinking your getting a bargain
Price for flavored went from $16 to $24 when you look at many of the weekly sales your getting scammed. Same with Winn Dixie boneless skinless chicken breasted by one get one free save $7 a pound any where else $2 a lb
Bargain aren't bargains in senior Town

So if I understand this you were paying an on sale price of $14/bottle. Then the buy two, third one free sale was priced at $16/bottle. So you pay $32 for three bottles which works out to less than $11/bottle.

Went from $16 to $24 which looks like $16 a bottle for three with the offer.
No saving.

I have no problem with what you said and mostly agree with it, until the end.

"Bargains aren't bargains in senior Town". Sorry, this is marketing 101 and it is NOT just here. It is how products are marketed.

There is a long list of misdirections used to market to us today. And sadly they almost all work.

If the math is there for you to see and you think you understand...but actually don't...then it is not a scam...greed makes many people make mistakes and fortunately for you it didn't cost you much to learn a lesson. Retail depend on people hurrying to conclusions.

The deal works out to $11 a bottle, so in my world that's still a bargain. And better than the previous week at $14 a bottle. This falls under the old adage, you have to spend money to save money.

I get lots of good sales and buy one get ones at Publix all the time. I guess you just have to know what you’re doing! Also, buying some good vodka might help!

I was there yesterday and the 1.75 liters (which is what the sale was for) were $15.49.

If anyone actually compared prices at Publix with any competitors they would never shop at Publix again. They are so overpriced. And not a little overpriced. They are a lot overpriced. I only go there for the bakery but that’s it.
