Default Delivery of transported auto

We're moving soon and are having one of our cars shipped so I'm looking for input from people who have had this done recently.

Two questions:

1). Was your shipper able to deliver your car inside the gate to your home or did you have to go somewhere to pick it up?

2). What shipper did you use?

Thanks in advance!

Most gates are accessible to non-residents (just push the red button at the gate) so the truck should be able to deliver to your house.

The vehicle will likely be too large. We picked it up at Lowes parking lot

Large moving vans can fit in, so I'd think a car carrier could...

If you are in a villa, you will probably need to walk to where they can unload, or have them drive it to you. They will be driving it off the truck.

This is true if it's a ten (10) car unit.
Many carriers use a pick-up with a 5th wheel and carry one or two cars.
So you need to give the carrier your address and they will tell you (it's their business).

I received a car for a homewatch customer of mine about three years ago. It was on a huge car carrier and was buried in the front so other cars had to be unloaded before they got to the Mercedes I was in charge of. There were no issues getting in the gate but the decision was made to unload on a side road and not try to weave all the way back to the residence. The guy said that they had to drive it the rest of the way to the residence (not me drive it) and they took several pictures. I put it in the garage after taking a few pictures of my own. Process took an hour or so

My two cents worth for free. I would call the villages offices, you will find them to be helpful. People here, including me, my pseudo name is DAVES. Should you have a problem, DAVES said, has no value at all. I would expect, it would be less expensive if you pick it up at the carriers distribution center compared to delivery to your home. Also, I would want to get the car in daylight so you can inspect it for possible damage. I would expect the carrier will ask you to sign a bill of lading saying the car arrived in good condition. You will be in a very weak position if after signing you find damages you did not see.

Low trees can be a problem. Better to pick up at Lowes or similar. I Shipped snowbird cars for 15 years. Or have them drive it to you and take driver back to truck.

Whether it was in Southwest, FL or here at TV, I have only seen the larger carriers and they pick up and drop off at a specific area such as parking lots or street pull-offs, or cut-outs to communities. Maybe the smaller delivery people will drop it off at your house. If you call them can they tell you?

I just had one delivered by Montway Auto Transport and had it dropped off in Sparr’s parking lot after hours.
