Default Our next adventure!

Hello from Doug, Susie and Goose (our Golden Retriever) from the Pacific Northwest / Washington State. I (Doug) am originally from Montana.

We spent some time last year looking around the state of Florida and were drawn to the Villages. The activities and entertainment opportunities are incredible.

We will be renting in the Villages the month of Oct 2021 and likely again Feb-April 2022. We plan to look at homes and if all goes according to plan we will buy a home. We love boating in the Pacific NW so much that we don’t plan to give it up entirely, however will plan to move our primary residence to Florida. We are in our early (Susie) and mid (Doug) 50’s.

Some of our Interests: Traveling, golf (Doug restarting, Susie starting), pickle ball, water volleyball, Softball (Doug), any other sports activities, Line dancing (Susie), Cards (pinochle, crib, etc. - we will be looking for a regular couples card group), Poker (Doug would love to find regular NL Hold-em tournaments or get into some local games) Boating and fishing. Did I say Traveling?

We are excited about the next adventure in our lives and can’t wait to meet new people. We have researched many of the clubs that align with our interest and will be “diving in” when we arrive.

If there are clubs that you currently belong to or have heard about that align with our interests, please recommend them!

Great choice for your next home! There's some marinas and beautiful lakes southeast from The Villages that you'll enjoy boating in, as well as the hundreds of activities within TV as well. Have fun discovering it all!

We are "newbies" too. Ste e and Vicki (late 60's) We bought in April and will be here October and most of November, then back again for the winter months. We are from Minnesota and looking forward to meeting new friends.

We also enjoy pickleball, golf, all kinds of cards and Texas Hold'em . We haven't seen any open Holdem games yet and hoping to find some. Steve is also interested in an investment club.

Welcome! When you come in October pick up the weekly recreation guide. I think it comes out on Thursday in the paper. This is the best place to look for clubs and most activities. There is also an online version that has all 3,000 clubs. There is a pickle ball 101 course you can take. For golf the groups are typically based around neighborhoods. I would talk with your neighbors to see if you can join a group. There are also mens day and womens day on Executive and Championship courses. You can sign up online for these and these are a good way to meet people who may have openings in their golf groups. Working with a Villages sale agent can also help you navigate through much of the issues. Look for topics on here around villages sales agents vs MLS for real estate. Best of luck.

Default Also Newbies

Our names are Steve and Vicki and we are also new to TV. We purchased a Villa in Rio Ponderosa back in April and will be snowbirds. We will be here for October and November, then back again for January-April.

We are from Minnesota and in our late 60's. Love golfing, pickleball, card games, especially pinochle and Texas Hold'em. We'd be very interested in joining in a group for cards. I know we have a lot to learn about the area.

Or go on the Daily Sun web site for the digital version.
