Try 10 minutes per zone, 2 times per week and see what happens to your lawn. Monitor your monthly irrigation usage in gallons per month, and compare it to your neighbors' usage. You can view any water bill by going to "districtgov.org" and searching by an address. It's public information.

I only have 2 zones, one for grass and one for bushes. In summer I run 2 times a week, 14 minutes for grass and 12 minutes for bushes. In the winter I run once a week.

Whatever you decide on runtime per week, run them three times per week rather than twice........with the sandy "soil".......longer runtimes are a waste of water.

It is not a matter of run time it is how much water is applied. Everyone does not have the same heads or water pressure. Also the soil is not the same. Most of it is sandy clay.

Some people water everyday. The result is shallow rooted plants. Plants will take the easy way all the time. Less frequent watering more applied will water deeper and the plants will grow deeper roots. Easy to check, take a shovel and cut straight down. Your grass roots should be down 6-8 inches. Watering more often encourages fungus and weeds

Depends on the type of system you have. Mine is recommended at 90 minutes to get the water deep into the ground. I run it about 60 minutes two or three times during the rainy season. Lawn is established. In my county you can only water two times a week on given days during daily light savings time. Once a week the rest of the year. Bushes, after a year or two might be able to be skipped. I run 5 minutes just to use the zone. I do pay attention to the grass and would adjust the times if needed.
