Ask yourself if you were a simple drug seeker with the need for some quick cash, would you choose:

1) A home on a quiet street with multiple means of escape (roads) with most owners away at work?

Or

2) An active community where you stand out (age or race) with no one at work, limited roads in and out all of which take a picture of your license plate?

PS: Comments on the statistically proven fact that certain races commit more crime aren't needed

During the construction period, there was a rash of break-ins, I installed a DIY system purchased at Sam's Club. Once the construction was done, the neighborhood has been very quiet. So I agree with above require - probably not, installed yes.
There are several options that did not exist when we installed, with many of these being wireless, and do it yourself.

We have a dog that is very vocal. However, at Nick's Vintage Train store in downtown Wildwood, that's located right across from City Hall, I do have a very good ADT system.

Most things are truly simple. Need to install a security system for their home, that is your choice. Which system again your choice. A monitored system will be more costly.

Breaking into your home? Typically noncriminal people think a criminal will worry about damaging your paint as you spent sooo much time and money getting the perfect color.

Our police dept will do a security check for you. For many, your landscaping may well need to be changed.

Laughing a bit but if anyone breaks into my home, my artwork is by the famous artist
TAIWAN.

Installed the Ring system myself. It has been 2 years and no regrets. Easy to do and affordable compared to the ADT type of systems. Ring monitors it too.

Additional devices can be added anytime, easy to make changes.

Probably not needed, we have the Ring and Wyse cameras around the house and inside. Both systems triggers app notifications. The Ring is probably sufficient - easy to install and very reliable.

I’ve had 6 different homes here and I’ve never locked the door in any of them , sometimes I’ve gone away for months and forgot to lock it . I would rather a criminal just come in rather then break a window or slider and it rains and wrecks my floors lol ..All kidding a side I just like the idea after living in many dangerous places in the world to have an unlocked house , (I know what your thinking , but it makes sense to me ) I do lock places away from here but I never feel unsafe anywhere , whether big cities Boston , Miami Beach or outside country like Thailand Philippines where I still travel or in illegal dice games in Orlando , I’m 82 a little edginess in your life is good

We chose to not have monitoring. With two siren alarms my past experience with an attempted break in was upon triggering the alarm the intruders immediately took off. They will assume the police have been notified. With our signage at entry points and motion detector lighting I am comfortable without monitoring.

Every contractor thats ever worked in The Villages know how to negotiate the entry & exit roads..only upstanding people work for them and pay close attention to
whats displayed in your home..
an Alarm system would be a good idea during these times of inflation and the shortages of Christmas gifts available. opportunist's are everywhere, including with the security system sales dept!
