Default Pleading for help with a hit and run accident

Fernandina/Village residents please help! There was a hit and run accident at the corner of Pinellas and Abana on Wednesday night, October 27th. You may know the hit and run driver, he headed down Abana to flee the accident. He drove a white golf cart with a "Bills" license plate on the back of the cart and a Fernandina license plate on the front. Additionally, the front license plate had a license holder that said US Marines. The Marines and Fernandina plates were knocked off his cart, so are no longer there. This was a serious accident with many injuries. So, if you know someone in Fernandina whose cart looks or looked like the one described, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at *347 or 888-269-8477 and tell them it's for case #89568188. Thank you for your help!

Look for houses in that village with a Bills or Marines sign or flag on house. Probably can narrow it down to someone from upstate NY

It would be a sad state of affairs if this hit and run driver was truly a former U. S. Marine---what ever happened to integrity?

Are traffic accidents with carts treated the same as for cars?

They had probably been drinking and panicked. So sad for all.

Is there any other damage you might be able to describe other than the license plate holder and plate missing?? Might be helpful if you could even begin to tell those keeping a watchful eye out what to look for.

I'd hope to think that friends/neighbors know of this cart, with its specific color and plates I.D.d. Was this incident in the paper or such? First time I've heard... What were the damages/injuries etc?

old age doesn't effect your judgement. Being a former jarhead doesn't mean that good judgement and duty don't effectively disappear with age. Since there are many titles that are highly respected that make foolish decisions as age overtakes common sense and decency it is beneath someone who uses that to disparage someone else.

Default "probably been drinking" is ...

putting forth a reason based on zero facts. Could have missed their meds, fell down and had a concussion, wife/husband just died, got old and didn't pay attention....the list of possible reasons goes on and on.

Don't fall for the quick and easy conclusion to jump to. Await the facts. Innocent till proven guilty.

Law? Truth is I don't know but I guess like a car, if you lend someone your car or even if it is stolen, the owner of the car, even though they are not the driver is responsible for damages.

Oh really?

What is my liability when my car was stolen and involved in a hit-and-run accident? | FreeAdvice

do you actually think everyone that comes out of service is a good guy , lots of guys in my neighborhood going back to ww2 went into combat some were bad guys before and many became bad guys after. My father had a friend Elmer Trigger Burke went from. Reform school to army at start of WW2 he became an Army ranger fighting in Italy and winning silver star on D Day going up the cliffs he was a hardened killer with many mob hits and bar fights went to the electric chair in the late 50’s in 40 years around the worlds hot spots I ran into a lot of guys who were hero’s and also bad guys, that served under different flags and continued being bad guys later in life , doing something heroic in combat doesn’t qualify you for sainthood

Curious why there has not been any mention about this "serious accident with many injuries" anywhere else. Did the OP witness the accident? Sounds like they did based on the details provided. Inquiring minds...

It would be nice if that were the case, but sadly, you're right. As to the other person who quoted my post, WTF are you talking about????
